The man who was shot wns taken in chaiga by officer Cyrus who for some unaccountable rontiou did not take him to the police station. The soldiers admit being with Downing on Saturday afternoon , but will say noth- ng concerning the robbery. Last evening Profs. Qammoll and Richardson , of the nstituto , came over to Omaha and no- jured Downiug's release from jail , he ioing placed in their custody at the Millard - lard hotel. IIu was found on a farm ono mile west of Mlllard in the peaceful occupation of following the pldw. Walters is wanted in Polk county , Iowa , to answer the charge of embezzlement from hisomploy- ora. The whereabouts of Walters would never have , been known had ho not boon betrayed by hia brother who was also arrested hero as a fugitive from justice. These men broke jail in DCS Moiuos , Iowa , by pry ing out several atones from the wall of their jail room by moans of a crowbar handed to them from thu outside by their friends in thu absence of the jailor. Fif teen in all escaped , but nearly all of them have been recaptured. It is said a third is in the county jail on a ohurgo of vag rancy und will bo taken back when his time is nerved out.
