On duo nnd inaturo consideration 1 am sorry to say that the irregularity that caused our poor alma mater so much pain was tlio regular school students and the do- eire of ono of them to procure a skeleton. It scorns a subject had boon obtained aonio time ago and contrary to the rules of the university it was loft lyinu around the basement. In fact it was resting nt ono time in the gymnasium as if present for n sad reminder of tlio future of the alumnus on the Hying trapeze. Dr. Mitchell , the dean of the regular school of medicine hero , Rooms to deserve the blame fur this corpse being uncoll'ined nnd unburied or unmounted in skeleton brio n brae , lie was certainly derelict in duty when the aroma bqcnmo so loud that it differed somewhat from the bottle of Araby , the Bloat , and the re- iiains of the dead were in an old tin boiler nnd placed on nn open nir mauso- "ouiu under n plank in the university ground.s. On Monday last in sonio way tlio subject became dissected by tlio noigh- orinu small boys or the dogs of this nut- licipal domain , which can bo numbered > y the thousand. In a word the body had boon scattered nil over the grounds , nnd it was not lout * before the tirat visitor had found himself surrounded by about 200 excited people. AH sorts of rumors were immediately set nll' > nt and people arriving on the eastern train tlmt night vroto horrified to hear that fifteen bodies of murdered per sons had been found in the University grounds. Some said the body of the youm' man who had lately boon killed at Noukm , of which Tnr BEE had n full account , had boon offered as a sacrifice to the oculpol. Sheriff Molick , with his deputies and the city policowcro early on the grounds and kept matters reasonably quiet for a time , and the remains were gathered up the beat they could be , the crowd ono by ono left the campus , but the citizens generally - ally have not by any means got over their indignation at the loose manner in which these dissecting matters were con ducted. Tlio twilight tickler , journalistically known as the News , was not going to "hido" the item under n busho ) , so Thursday evening found an account of the university business in its columns. It all amounts to ono thing ; the people well know that where there are medical stu dents there will bo "stills" and skeletons and deans , demonstrators nnd dissectors , but they dcscrvo care to bo taken lost , as in this instance , the feelings of common decency are violated by sheer neglect on the part of the medical oflicers in charge.
