Minutes of the last session ap- proved and the following busi ness transacted in regular form. Motion was made by Borne meier and seconded by Todd to approve the Bonds of Donald G. Eaton and Howard J. Austin as Special Deputies at Merrills Beach. Motion carried. The following motion was made by Bornemeier and sec onded by Todd: " WHEREAS an emergency . exists by reason of destruction by fire of two motor graders owned by Cass County, and, WHEREAS bids have been re ceived from Lincoln Equipment Company, Nebraska Tractor li Equipment company and con - truction Service Equipment ' Company for the purchase of two motor graders. BE IT RESOLVED that two CaterpUlar Graders be purchas- . ed from Lincoln Equipment Company, to be paid by apply- lng the insurance proceeds to be received lor tne two motor grad ers destroyed by fire and the balance to be paid out of the In heritance Tax Funds on hand In the office of the County Treasurer. Minutes of the previous meet ings were read and approved. in ordinance entitieo "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC TION 3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1025 OF THE CITY OF PLATTS MOUTH, NEBRASKA; PROVID ING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE FOR THE YEAR 1962; REPEALING ORIGINAL SEC TION 3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1025 AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE'' was passed under suspension of rules. Motion carried to grant per mission to Laverne Llddick as requested, to cut the curb on No. lltn St. lor a driveway to nis property, subject to require ments. Motkm carried that the report of the- Police Dept. Activities for the month of April as read DC accepted and placed on file.. Motion carried to accept the report of the Police Judge for the weeks ending April 27, May 4 and May 11, 1963 and place same on file. Motion carried to accept the reDort of the Parking Meter col lections for weeks ending April 30, May 5 and May 13, 1963 In the amounts of $243.50, $248.50 and $250.50 respectively. Moiion carried to install a street light as requested by pro perty owners and recommended by the Lighting Committee at the intersection of 17th St. and 3rd Ave. Motion carried to grant the request of St. John's School for a roll-out stop sign to be plac ed at the intersection of 5th St. and Ave. C for school pedestrian traffic periods with the school assuming responsibility for plac ing and removing the sign. Kenneth Tlekotter was pre sent representing property own ers of South Lincoln Ave. area to ask whether the City Coun cil would be willing to get the street into shape for rocking and share in the expense of the rock to be placed on the street beyond the cost of rocking the intersections if property owners also purchase rock at this time for placing on Lincoln Ave. After discussion it was refer red to the Sts., Alleys Commit tee for checking and also to see if No. 2 screeneo rock as re quested is available locally. Committee Is to report at next meeting. A letter was read from Edith Vandervort in appreciation for the work dona to the alley be tween Ave. F and G on 8th St. Letter was placed on file. After reviewing the plans and specifications and discussion regarding same, mo tion carried to accept the plans, specifications and estimates of costs as presented and instruct the City Clerk to have the Not ice to Bidders lor same to be published in the Plattsmouth Journal on May 16, 1963 and May 23, 1963 with opening of bids to be at City Hall at 7:30 O'clock P.M., May 28, 1963. Mayor Moore stated that since the death of C. E. Ledgway there had been a vacancy exist ing on the Cemetery Board. Mayor Moore then announced the appointment of Chris Buiin to fill this vacancy, eifective at once, with term to expire May 1, 1964. Motion carried to ap prove the Mayor's appointment. May 7, 1963 The new Board came to order with Herman Wendt acting as temporary chairman and W. J. B. McDonald as clerk. The new Board organized as follows: Herman Wendt, Chair man' O. B. Lupardus, Treasur er; Dick Trutna, Water Com missioner; Hcnu r i c k s o n and Smith, Street Commissioners. The motion made by Lupar dus and seconded by Hendrick son to retain W. J. B. McDonald as clerk carried. The Corn Growers State Bank W'as designated as the deposi tory for the Village funds.
