Eagle News Mrs. John Fischer Phone 984-6141 Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bassett, of Denver, Colorado, called at the John Fischer home early last Thursday morning, enroute home, via Scotia, to visit her sister and family and also her aged father, residing near the daughter's home. The Bissetts had attended the 60tn weaaing anniversary observance on Chriatmas Day for his parents, at Unadilla at which time tne honor couple's immediate fam ily were all present. The Colora do folks are former Eagle resi dents and neighbors of the Fis chers while both were residing on farms just north of Eagle. Kathy Einfeldb enjoyed her two weeks vacation during the Christmas and New Year holi days returning to her employ ment at St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lincoln on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroder and children twin sons, Brett and Bartt and daughter Amy Jo, and his mother, Mrs. Elda Schroder helped celebrate the birthday of the later's son, Mr. Arnold Schroder and latter's son Kevin's, 2nd birthday recently at the Schroder home. Mrs. Eldee McKay entertained the Palmyra Presbyterian Guild members at the Palmyra church for the December meeting. Her 2 sister-in-laws, Mmes Harvey Gerhard and Claude Gerhard, were her iru&sts. Charlie Scattergood, returned home, from the hospital, on last ! Friday, after a week's hospitall- j zation, following surgery, on i last Saturday. Their daughters and families from Rusking and Hebron came for the Christmas festive on New Year's Day. Mr. Ralph Ransford, returned home, from the hospital, Mon day, after several weeks hospit alization following a major sur gery, Nov 21st. He will be under medical attention for several weeks. His brother, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ransford of Napa, Cali fornia are remaining, to be at the Ransford home, during his convalescence. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mehrens and family of Minneapolis, Min nesota spent the Christmas Holi day at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wulf and his mother, Mrs. Arthur Meh rens and also at a brother's home, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Meh rens and family, at Ainsworth, Nebraska for New Year's re turning to Eagle, before leaving for their home out-state. Mr. Evan Root is recovering satisfactorily and was released from the hospital and enjoyed the ChrLstmas festive at the home of his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Moores at Lincoln with his family, and mother, Mrs. Grace Root and Marvin also brother, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Root and family all of Eagle. The other Root relatives present were from out-oi-town. Swanson Funeral services will be Wed nesday at Harvard, Nebr. for Fred S. G. Swanson, 80, who died at the Masonic Home, Platts mouth, Jan. 5. He was born March 17, 1882 at Holdrege. His wife, Ada, and son Ray mond Swanson survive. He came to Plattsmouth in April, 1960; was a former ranch er and lived at McCook. Mr. Swanson was a member of Wallace Nebraska Lodge No. 279 AF St AM. Visiting hours were Sunday afternoon at the Caldwell Fun eral Home who was In charge of arrangements. Liberty Explorers UNION The Liberty Ex plorers 4-H Club met Jan. 5 at the home of James Boardman. Installation of officers was held with a candlellghting serv ice conducted by Mrs. Board man. Members answered roll call with "a present I got for Christ mas." Demonstrations were given by Larry Bocrdman and Bobble Kendall on "Assembling Tools." Bob Boardman reported on two trees, Linden and Eastern Cedar. Boys filled out forestry record books. Past Commander Ed Ofe Visits Post No. 56 Members of Hugh J. Kearns Post No. 58, the American Legion met for the first meeting of the new year at the 40 & 8 Club Rooms. Past Commander Ed Ofe of Tacoma, Wash., who is visiting over the holidays In Platts mouth, was present and was able to see a number of his friends. 1 Commander Merle D. Meis inger presided over the meeting and thanked the committee for their help at the Christmas party. National Commander James Powers will appear in Omaha on January 22, to conduct an Area Membership Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Storz Brewery, 1807 No. 18 Street, O maha, beginning at 7:30 p.m. There wlU be no registration fee and a lunch will be served fol lowing the meeting. Plattsmouth plans to send a delegation. Membership has passed the 200 mark and the committee has scheduled several night drives to complete the program. Here for the occasion was their son, ET3 Larry Rea who arrived Dec. 22 from Treasure Island, San Francisco, calif., and the couple's daughter, Mar ilyn Rea, employed at Lincoln. Also Mrs. Mary Rea from Falls City was with the group. She Is the mother of the host and of Mrs. William Ottersberg of Pueblo, Colo., who was here with her husband and eight children.
