A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Merle Backemeyer Aug. 8. He has been named Curtis Allen and weighed 8 pounds, one ounce. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Backemeyer. Great-grandfather Is Alton Mil ler of Elmwood. Luella Eikerman of Louisville Is visiting her sister, Mrs. Har vey Backemeyer and family for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Crewd son were weekend visitors at her parents', Mr. and Mrs. El don Mendenhall's. Mr. Crewd son entered the service during the Korean War and was dis charged Aug. 9. They live in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Menden hall returned recently from a 10-day trip through southwest Colorado including a visit to Mesa Verde. They stopped at Ft. Morgan to see an aunt who is 86. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hill and son of Chicago spent a few days at the home of his parents, the Vernon Hills and returned home Sunday. Sunday dinner guests were the Jim Hill fam ily of Falls City. Mrs. Harry Duckworth was expected to return home Mon day from the hospital where she had been following an accident. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Welsheit entertained at an outdoor bar becue Thursday night. Guests were the Fred Engelking fam ily, the Frank Poskochil family, Betty Frlesen, Judy Reed and Lyle Wendt. Sunday guests at the Harry Arnold home were Mrs. Robert Chamberlain and Ann Marie of Gordon, Mrs. Howard Capwell and Miss Harriett Arnold of Lin coln, Mlml Eilers of San Diego, Calif., and the Richard Pratt family. Mrs. Fred Welsheit and Mary called on Mrs. Carl Kupke of Greenwood on Friday afternoon and also Mrs. Mary Lau and Ella at Murdock. Sunday, they and Lyle Wendt were afternoon luncheon guests in Omaha at the Charles Minardi home. Mrs. Elda Lenz, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Koutsky and Jackie and the Orville Lenz family were in the Henry Hansen home in Lin coln Sunday for a birthday din ner in honor of Alice Wanek, Jackie Koutsky and Mrs. Orville Lenz. Fred Welsheit Jr. and Betty Frelsen of Lincoln spent Sunday afternoon with Betty's grand parents at Henderson. They were supper guests at the Albert Frei sens' in Lincoln. Mrs. Harvey- Taylor and two boys, Steven and Scott, of Gran by, Colo., spent the week here at the Roy Rhoden home. Her father Is in the nursing home, Rest Haven, in Weeping Water. His condilion Is improved. Mrs. Currn Shields and son Craig of Los Angeles are spend ing the week with Mrs. Shields' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Greene. They spent Sunday with another daughter, Mrs. Max Lamb, and husband in Lincoln. Sunday evening guests of the Greenes were Mrs. Hazel Deer lng and son-in-law Harry Fogie and little daughter, Darrin, of Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. Deering re turned home on Monday after spending the summer with her sisters, Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Ralph Keckler of Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Haase attended the wedding of Miss Evelyn Reed and Phil Johnson at the Waverly Methodist Church Sunday afternoon. Callers at the Roy Keller home this past week were Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bundy, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Converse, Mr. and Mrs. Gill Keller and Mr. and Mrs. George Bornman. Greenwood Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Osburn and Rodger spent last weekend with Mr. Osburn's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dey of Osborne, Kan. They also visited other relatives and friends while there. Recent visitors with Rosa Palmquist were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwegman of Eagle. Or val Palmquist of Sacramento-; Calif., visited with Mrs. Palm quist by long distance telephone recently. Sunday visitor with Mrs. Nor ma McNurlin was Mrs. Louise Johnson of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. James Voehl drove their daughter, Vicki, to Camp Fontenelle Sunday. She was to spend a week there. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Osburn spent Monday evening at the Ronald Osburn home at Gretna and Saturday afternoon at the, Ted Bulling home in Lincoln. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Osburn were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Tinnean visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hammer at Eagle Saturday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. John Seefeld were Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Remmereid of Petersburg. They brought their son, Phil, home. He had visited in the Remmereid home and their nephew, Tim Seefeld of Omaha, returned home with them for an overnight visit at the John Seefeld home. Mrs. Lloyd Grady returned home Sunday morning after spending two wepks of vaca tion with her sister, Mrs. Ruth Hanners of Twin Falls, Idaho. While there, thev both attended the . World's Fair at Seattle. Sunday afternoon visitors at the Lloyd Grady home were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Grady and family of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles spent Sunday at the Wayne Kinney home at Palmyra. Sunday guests of Mrs. Glad ys Martin were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hall of Prairie Home. Afternoon visitors were Mrs. Roy Love and Leroy and Alaura O'Rourke. Mrs. Gladys Martin spent a couple days with Mrs. Bessie Marcoff at Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pershing and family and Mrs. Clara Per shing joined a Pershing family reunion for a picnic at Nebras ka City Sunday.
