Stizie Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Cook of Alvo nnd a student, at Eagle High School was one of the 7 All State Student selected from the many out-standing music and fine arts course at University of Nebraska for the final vote f -day evening. Two were selected young man from Wayne and a young lady of Lincoln were the finalists. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pistole are moving this week to Aurora, Colo, on K. Colfax Street. Mmos Bertha elites and her tieii'lihor lady, Emma Schweg man spent last Thursday after noon, at the home of Mrs. Mau rice Robertson near Alvo. The latter family reside in Eagle during the school term, neigh bors to the above guests. Mrs. Fred Schick of Elmwood visited at the home of her dau ghter and family the Valjean St oils on last Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Baker and two children of Rock Island, Illinois and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Uandlev of King City, Missouri are visiting at the home of Mrs. Baker's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rausford, dur ing the past week. Monday evening, a family Fathering: was enjoved at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ransford, honoring the visiting relatives. Thoe present were, her mother, Mrs. Edith Moore nnd latter's son, Mr. and Mrs. Fldon Moore and family all of Weeping Water, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Baker and family of Rock Island, Illinois and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Handley of King City, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Berthul Leuen berger and daughters, of Odes sa, Texas, have been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Folken and a brother Leland Folken and family at Eagle left on Saturday morning for Colo rado to visit friends and rela tives, enroute home. Jeanette Embree, daughter of Supt. and Mrs. Paul Embree un derwent a tonsilectomy on last Friday and is recovering satis factorily. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scatter good attended a family gather ing at the home of his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Juli us Morrison and family at Lin coln on Sunday June 25th. The visiting son and family of Port land, Oregon, (Mr. and Mrs. Don Morrisons I and a visiting dau ghter I Mrs. Merle MeWilliams and 2 sons) of Denver, Colo. The above folks, are former Eagle residents. Mr. and Mrs. Don Piersol and his aunt, Mrs. Esther Lyons of David City, Nebr. called at the home of his siter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scattergood, recently. Jesse Wall and son, Mr. and Mrs. William Wall and 5 chil dren, of Pocatello, Idaho, visited at the home of his brother, Mr. Jesse Wall and brother Owen, on Thursday. The family had been visiting other relatives prior to the Eagle stop. Gail Lanning and his cousin. Christ! Zillmer, (daughter of Mrs. Wilma Gerhard Brootz) of Oconomowoc. Wise, visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning and Jerry last week. Picnic supper was enjoyed at the home of the guest's aunt the Chester Borne neiers at Elmwood, the evening of July 4th. The small granddaughters Pamela and Sandy Anderson of Lincoln, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson spent last Wednesday at the grand parents, Mr. and M r s. C. G. Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ander son and son Ronnie of Lincoln returned from Iowa, recently, where Ronnie underwent surg ery. He has recovered very sat isfactoily. Mrs. Grace Copple of Alvo, called at the home of Mrs. Anna Fifer, on Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer at tended the funeral services of his brother, Win. J. The guests had been visiting relatives at Albion, Nebraska. The Robert Reynoldson family moved into the house recently vacated by the Floyd Pistole famliy, during last week. A barbecue supper was en joyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Corr and family on Friday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning and sons, Gail Lanning (visiting from Wisconsin) and Jerry the visiting niece, Miss Christi ZH1- mer, aL;o from Wisconsin and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Borne meier and family, of Elmwood Nebr. John and Jim Moss, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moss and Mark Embree, son of Supt. and Mrs. Paul Embree attended the Boy Scout Reservation, at Hum boldt during last week. Mr. and Mrs. Moss provided the trans portation. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schroder and sons, spent last weekend and July 4th holidav at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sou kuo at Western, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schroder and family visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Halvorsen and family at Lincoln, on last Tuesday. Mrs. Tena Butt visited at the home of her daughter and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Glasers at Lincoln last weekend. Mrs. Jessie Lanning of Pal myra. Nebraska, visited several days last week, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary Lanning. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Meyer and family, of Lincoln, spent- Wed nesday evening, at the home of her sister and family, the Rich ard Carrs'. All enjoyed, home made, ice cream, and cake, dur ing the evening. Ricky Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carr had the mis fortune to cut his finger quite painfully on a broken glass bot tle on last Wednesday morning. Lt. and Mrs. Lee Thorin and daughter, Abby Leah, of Lin coln, called at the home of her Grandfather, R. C. Wenzel, on Monday after returning to their home on Sunday from Ft. Col lins, Colo., where they visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wenzel (formerly of Eagle) and they also visited his parents, at Grant, Nebr., during his leave and vacation time. Sharon Wall visited at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Eugene Heuermann and husband, near Grand Island, Nebr., during last week. Eagle friends are sorry to hear of the illness of Mrs. Turley Wall of Greenwood, a former Eagle resident, having suffered a stroke recently and hospital ized, however her condition was not reported critical. Mr. and Mrs. Donavan Leigh ton visited at the home of his parents a few days last week at Bedford, Iowa. On Tuesday evening, July 4th Messrs. and Mmes. Valjean Stall, Milton Rodaway, Richard Carrs and Mrs. Margaret Snokes were co-hosts and hostesses for the Eastern Star at the Elm wood Temple building. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rodaway of Lincoln were dinner guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Rodaway last Sunday. Kenneth Trunkenbolz is enjoy ing his vacation from the Earl May Nursery Company at Lin coln, at home. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Halvor sen and family, and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Edward Nceman and family visited Mr. Neeman's cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Eldo Nee man and family at Lincoln July 4th, and all enjoyed a "B-B Que" Steak fry for the evening meal. Mrs. Eldee McKay was host ess for the Palmyra Presbyter ian Guild at the church parlors at Palmyra, on last Wednesday afternoon June 28th. Nehawka News Mrs. F. O. Sand Jolene Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Meyer enter tained the eighth grade class on her 13; h birthday at a roller skating party at Elmwood. They returned to the Meyer home for refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. George Hoff meister of Omaha were picnic supper guests of Mr and Mrs. Martin Ross Sunday. Eight members of the Metho dist Youth Fellowship had a swimming party at Steinhart Park Monday afternoon. They were accompanied by Reverend and Mrs. Staley Hackloy and two sons and Mr. and Mrs. Hal Han sen. Part of the streets in Nehawka have been oiled. Ed Stanley of the Nehawka Grain company reported the wheat was testing number 1 and was yielding from 35 to 50 bus hels to the acre. Mr. and Mrs Victor Ross made Adlai E. Stevenson, U. S. Am bassador to the United Nations, reporting on trip to South Am erica: "We found a tremendous interest and hope in the Alliance for Progress. The conviction is universal that more rapid social and economic development is imperative." a business trip to Central City Tuesday. Dianne stayed at the Ed Morris home in Union and Ronnie and Tom stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Louie Ross. Mrs. Robert Trotter and Rich ard of Laramie, Wyoming and Mr and Mrs. Claude Johnson of Lov eland, Colo, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Trotter . Mrs. Robert Schlichtemeier and sons went to Clarkson Fri day to spend the weekend. The town celebrated its 75th anni versary. Guests at the Robert Schlichtemeier home on the Fourth were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Budin and four daughters of Clarkson; Mr. and Mrs John Budin, Sally and David of Oma ha. The Ed Snyder. Auer and family of St. Louis, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bryson, Alden, Minn, were dinner guests' Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs Harry Knabe. Wood Murdoch of Rockpart. Mo. was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Murdoch for several days the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pollard's guests Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd tWooley and daugh ters, of Saunas, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Frd Samson of Couri-'1 cil Bluffs. T. J. Pollard of Birmingham, Ala. came Friday for Mrs. Pol- , lard and Susan who spent sev eral weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Julian Pollard. Mrs. Julian Pol lard has been a patient at St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City. 1 She shows improvement and is able to sit up each day. The T. J. Pollard family left for their home Monday. Robert Pollard of St. Paul, Nebr. is spending the holiday weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard. Mrs. Clayton Bruce and children of Lincoln came Sunday to spend several days. Kathy Pollard of Schaller, Iowa came Monday to spend a week with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pol lard and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nolte of Mynard. Mmes. Jack Hines, Will Ost and Amelia Balfour went to the home of Mrs. Steve Eglsaer of Nebraska City Monday after noon to help her celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Henry Straub of Nebraska City returned home with Mrs. Balfour to spend a few days. Mrs. Maude Philpot went to Weeping Water Friday to spend some time with Mrs. Edna Phil pot. The U. B. Aid met for quilting Thursday at the home of Mrs. Gene Fitch. Miss Eleanor Easter called at the home of Mrs. Laura Poulos recently. Mrs. Doris Pollard of Omaha was a weekend guest of Mrs. Charlotte Niday and Mrs. F. A. Hansen. Mrs. Ida Berger and Miss Al legra Wilkens of Lincoln were ' dinner guests Sunday of the Earl Noltes. The Cass County Medical So ciety met for dinner at the Am erican Legion Club in Nebraska City June 29 and convened at the home of Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Andersen for a business meet ing. Dr. L. N. Kunkel of Weep ing Water is the president, Dr. Richard Brendel of Platts mouth. the secretary-treasurer and Dr. R. R. Andersen of Ne hawka is the Delegate to tohe Nebraska State Medical Asso ciation. An outdoor steak fry was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Granville Heebner of Nebraska City Sunday observing the birthdays of Mrs. Elmer Kas bohm, Dunbar; Mrs. R. R. And ersen, Nehawka and Mr. Heeb ner. Gary Andersen, son of Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Andersen sus tained a fracture of his left arm when a rope upon which he was swinging accidentally broke. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Poppe, Prairie Village, Kansas are spending this week with her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Carper. They left for their home Friday. Monday Mrs. Carper's great grandson, Mark Peterson of O maha visited at her home. Mark has a baby sister, Susan Poppe Peterson, she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peterson and is six months old. Mrs. Leroy Johnson and son, Kerry Roger, have returned from St. Mary's hospital at Ne braska City Kerry has a broth er, Keith. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dodson of Nehawka; Mrs. Grace Johnson, Minneola. Florida; great grand mother, Mrs. Hildur Lundberg of Nehawka.
