Mr. and Mrs. John Gruber of Manley and Mr. ' and Mrs. Er nest Gruber and sons of Louis ville enjoyed the fireworks at Nebraska City Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Streeter and family entertained at a pic nic dinner the 4th of July at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Fusselman and fam ily and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Jochlm and family. Mrs. Eva Blair entered the Methodist hospital in Omaha Saturday evening for observa tion and check-up. She is in Room 967. Mr. Philip Hennings and Bob Brammer of Bur-bank, Calif., left Wednesday for a few days fishing at Gavins Point Dam. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Robbins, Sr., were Thursday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Si Morris near Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Merrill, Jr., and family of Minneapolis, Minn., is visiting his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Merrill, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Meyer of Louisville are the parents of a son born, Friday, June 30 at the Methodist hospital in Omaha. He weighed eight pounds and ten ounces and has been named Johnnie Gene. Mrs. Meyer was the former Peggy Stratton of Louisville. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Meyer of Murdock and Mrs. Enima Strat ton of Louisville. Great grand parents are M. and Ms. John Stratton, Sr., of Louisville and Mrs. Amy Dixon of Weeping Water. The Meyers have one other child, Cynthia Lou. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peoples and Quinton of Versailles, Mis souri were Wednesday afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and j Mrs. Eldon Pingree. Mrs. Herman Hennings of Plattsmouth, Mrs. Helen Mei slnger of Phoeniz, Arizona and Mrs. Ann Heil of Louisville were Wednesday afternoon callers at the Carl Meisinger home. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Puis and Ralph and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Puis were 4th of JuJy guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Roeber in Murdock and helped Kenneth celebrate his birthday. Paul's brother, David, re turned home Monday from Cali fornia where he has been sta tioned the past six months with the National Guard. Hon in Omaha John Albert, Sr., who has been in ill health for the past month following a stroke the 5th of May, suffered another stroke Saturday evening and passed a way Tuesday evening at the Methodist hospital where he has been a patient since May 5th. Linda and Cheryl Smith ac companied their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith, Sr., of Millard home Tuesday to spend a few days. Mrs. Henry Zimmerman of Lincoln and Mrs. E. A. Ingram left Thursday evening for a short visit with relatives at Quincy, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Welte and five children arrived Saturday morning by train from San Francisco, California and are visiting at the Ralph Welte farm home. Paul is an uncle of Ralph's. They brought birthday gifts and enjoyed lunch at the Bates home. Mrs. Hunter and Renne Hunt er of Decatur spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunter and Susan. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiles were in Lincoln on Sunday after noon to visit Mrs. Ray Wiles at the Providence hospital. Her condition remains about the same. Mr. Wiles is also staying at the hospital while his wife is a patient there. Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirchhotr the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hennings. Mrs. Robert Brammer and children are visiting for a few days at Henry Gardner, Jr., home near Papillion. Mrs. Ralph Ipock and chil dren enjoyed the fire-works dis play at Weeping Water Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stander en tertained at a picnic at their home Sunday. Guests present were Gerald Hebert of Okla homa, City, Okla., brother of Mrs. Sunder, who is visiting them. Rev. Wilton Swires, pastor of the Faith Baptist church in Louisville has resigned and will move to Kearney in the near fu ture. His place will be taken by Rev. Leon Beam of the Weeping Water Baptist Church. Rev. Beam will serve both churches. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edson and sons visited three days last week with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dernier in Kansas City. Earl Heim of Clark, South Da kota and Francis Heim of Vi enna, South Dakota were here for the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Mary Group. Mrs. Elwln Isaac and Mrs. Paul Stander of Manley attended the luncheon for Den Mothers Thursday at the Ranch Bowl in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barnes and Joyce visited relatives in Devner, Colorado over the fourth of July weekend. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hirsch, Mrs. J. R. Mrs. Rolland Heil and Doug las of Omaha visited for several days with Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Wiles while Mr. Heil was in South Dakota on business. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Steckley, Clarke and Susan moved the past Saturday to Lincoln where they will make their home. Leo Kirchhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff, registered on Saturday at the University of Colorado for the summer session at Greeley, Colorado. There were over 4,000 students who register ed for the summer course. Leo had to stand in line from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. to register. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Russell of Sinton, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wiles of Valley were Monday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiles. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cooper and Gary of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunter and Susan and Mrs. Hunter and Renee of Decatur were Wednesday eve ning guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper. Kurt Salberg, five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Sal berg, is ill with a touch of rheu matic fever. He has to remain quiet. Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff called on Mrs. Salberg and Kurt on Wednesday afternoon. The Weeping Water Fire De partment was called last week to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schuleter. Their barn and corn crib burned to the ground. The fire department was called on Tuesday to the Sam Galloway home. Their hay had caught fire and there was dan ger of it catching the machine shed and house on fire. They lost 900 bales of hay in the fire. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schultz and boys of Walton were Sun day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Livingston and their houseguests, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Livingston and twins, Cheryl and Larry of State, College Pennsylvania. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Weide man are the parents of a son, born on Thursday, June 29, 1961 at the St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City. The baby weigh ed 7 pounds 1214, ounces and has been named Anthony Christ ian. Mrs. June Pointer of Weep ing Water is the maternal grand mother; Edgar Pointer of Omaha is the grandfather. Rev. and Mrs. C. F. Weideman of Oakland are the paternal grandparents. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arch Pointer of Weeping Water. Rev. Val Johnson and live' boys arrived on Tuesday evening! for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. , William Klemme and Steven.1 They visited one day and night with Neal Johnson of Avoca. Mrs. Johnson and daughter of Brighton, Colorado joined her husband and sons on Monday. They visited until July 4th at the Klemme home after which thpy went to Kansas to visit Mrs. Johnson's parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Chlosta of San Antonio, Texas, visited for; a week with Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Schmadeke and family. They enjoyed a month's vaca tion in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Livingston, Cheryl and Larry of State Col lege, Pennsylvania, visited from Friday until Wednesday with Mr. aad Mrs. Cyrus Livingston and Mr. ard Mrs. Donald Schultz and boys of Walton and other relatives. Mrs. John Upton was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nichels. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup and Roberta Knaup were guests at a cook out at the home of Mrs. William Knaup in Murdock Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gibson and children of Omaha visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ilarlon Gib son. Barbara Cappen of Orange field, Texas, is visiting for a week with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen, Richard and Mar garet. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hyde and daughter, Mrs. Don Timke ar rived on Sunday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hyde and boys. The two men are brothers. The two families went to Omaha on July 4th for the golden wed ding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lansphear a sister of Henry and Ralph Hyde. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Phillips and family of Pawnee City spent July 4th with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kennedy. Peggy Phillips accom panied them home after a visit at the Kennedy home. Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kirchhoff and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinkamp were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Steinkamp of Manley. They visited on Sun day evening with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Holt. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bruns and children and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffman and Shut-lotto, enjoyed swimming at Louisville Saturday afternoon. The Hoff man family were guests at the Bruns home for a barbecue sup per in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Strat ton and boys were Tuesday eve ning guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stratton. They brought a freezer of ice cream and a birthday cako to help Mrs. Lee Stratton cele brate her birthday. - Mrs. Claude Johnson and Mrs. Robert Trotter were Wed nesday callers of Mr. and Mrs, Louis Allgayer. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinkamp visited on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gardner and fam ily in Lincoln.
