COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS Office of County' Commissioners Cass County, Plattsmouth, Nebr. July 5, 11 The Board convened as the Board of Equalization. They talked to Mr. Woodard from the Tax Commissioners office in re gard to omitted property in Cass County. The Board will meet with Mr. Woodard again in the second week of July, 1961. Motion was made by Gregg and seconded by Bornemeier that Western Sand and Gravel schedule be raised. After view ing the property the Board of Equalization voted unanimously that the valuation of the South Bend property be raised to $60, 000.00 and the Cedar Creek pro perty to $35,000.00 as per notice sent to the Western Sand & Gravel on 6-20-61. Fees for the month of June were reported by the following officers: Clerk of District Court $ 381.50 Register of Deeds 294.25 County Clerk 287.97 County Judge 640.80 County Sheriff 29.50 Roy Moore met with the Board in regard to new regula tions pertaining to the County farm. Mr. Moore is required to install a new sink to meet the requirements. Total cost to the County would be approximately $350.00. Mr. Moore also told the Board that he is required to lay linoleum and to install fire doors. This he agreed to do without cost t.n thp r.m Board decided to have the sink installed at County expense. Motion was made by Gregg and seconded by Bornemeier that the County Board accept the low bid of the Nebraska Tractor and Equipment Com pany on motor grader, Galion No. 118 at the bid price of $17 -828.75 (Total nrifff twntmi less trade-in allowance ori used macnine, $4,881.67) net to Coun ty, $17,828.75. This was for grad er and snowplow, tradein also included used snow plow. Mo tion carried. Motion was made by Borne meier and seconded by Gregg that the County Board accept the low bid of Lincoln Equip ment Company for new Elevat ing Grader, total price $8,290 00 less tradein allowance of $1 -300.00. Net cost to County $6 -990.00. Motion carried Motion was made by Todd and seconded by Gregg that the County Board accept the low bid of Rubin Auto Company on two dump trucks, total bid, $9,816 00 less tradein allowance of $1 807 .16 on used truck. Net cost to Cass County $7,288.28. Motion carried. Motion was made by Todd and seconded by Gregg that the County accept the low bid of Mid-West Lumber on bridge lum ber and piling for the next fis cal year. LINCOLN Eight hundred ewes were obtained by 6heep produceers in the state through the 1961 Nebraska Ewe Distri bution Program which was com pleted Friday. That's the report from Ted Doane, University of Nebraska Extension animal husbandman, who adds that "producers over the state were well satisfied with the ewes distributed this year' The quality was up and was more uniform throughout as compared to previous years." The final shipment of ewes from Montana and Wyoming brought the total distributed this year to 800. Doane exclaimed. Prices ranged from $18.65 a cwt. in the west to $18.90 cwt. in the east depending on shipping char ges. Ewes were distributed as fol lows: Lincoln, 250; Hastings, 250; Arapahoe, 30; North Platte, 150; Colmbus 50; and Norfolk, 70. , INDIANS GET GREEN WAM PUM Klamath Falls, Ore. The United States handed $12,000,000 in cash to nearly 300 Indians in Klamath county recently. Each Indian had an average of $43,000 to 6ave or spend. Most of them put the money in banks. Some bought cars and materials for homes. Others got a little out of hand and landed in jail. The money is payment for half a million acres of Klamath In dian Reservation timberland. The Klamaths voted to give up their tribal life and dispose of their property. CHICKEN PICKER OUT MODED Batesville, Ark. The machine age has caught up with 83-year-old Mose Rattler, a professional Chicken picker for 69 years who claims to be one of the fastest in the nation. In his prime he could average four chickens a minute, he said, and his fastest time for a single picking was nine seconds. The total this year will be $84, 032 as compared with the previ ous high mark of $83,176 estab lished a year ago. "The increase in cash pre mium offerings is another mark of the Nebraska State Fair's growth and progress as well as of the entire state," Schultz said. Larger offerings for the 1961 exposition Include: Horses and Ponies, $5,491.00; beef cattle $11,584.00 plus $2,565.00 in breed association awards; sheep, $5, 178.00 plus $254.00 in special awards; farm products, $7,201.00 and County Collective $4,800.00, 4-H Club, $13,000; Future Farm ers of America, $5,500.00.
