THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL PAOE EIGHT Thursday. May 19, 1960 Death of Mrs. C. C. Spangler at Edgar, Neb. Mrs. C. C. Spangler, former resident of Plattsmouth and sur rounding community, died Tues day at U pm. at the Mary Lannlng hospital at Hastings. She has been a resident of Edgar, Neb., for several years and will be remembered here as the former Blanch Will, daugh ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Will, prominent residents here for many years. Survivors are: husband, C. C. Spangler, Edgar; children, Rus sell, Plattsmouth; Mrs. Barbara Hennings, Omaha; Mrs. Mable Oarlan, Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Marvel Rutherford, Mrs. Alice Cox, Edgar; Clifford, Colorado, Harold, California. Funeral services will be Satur day, May 21 at the Methodist church at Edgar, Rev. Delvin A. Roper officiating assisting Rev. Barr of Angus U. B. Church. Obituary will appear later in the Journal. Funeral of Dee Hostetter Held Here Wednesday Wednesday afternoon at the chapel of the Caldwell-Linder funeral home was held the last rites for Dee Hostetter, long time resident of the Murray Community. The services were largely attended by friends from all eastern Cass County. Rev. Joe Barr, pastor of the Murray Presbyterian church, of ficiated at the service with Dale Wohlfarth as soloist and Mrs. Richard Sack as organist. Interment was at Lewiston cemetery southeast of Murray and casket bearers were friends and neighbors, Greeley Beil, Fred Campbell, Arthur Hansen, Tony Klimm, Louis Sack, M. M. Toman. Houle Dies Here Enroute To JopJin, Missouri Wednesday morning at 6 o' clock William H. Uoule 60, of Minot, N. D., died of a sudden heart attack at the Hill City Trailer court in this city. Mr. Houle In company with his sister, Mrs. Mathilde Bagley, of Bismark, North Dakota, had stopped here over night at the trailer court, enroute to Joplin, Mo., to visit relatives when he was stricken with the fatal heart attack. He was born October 1, 1899 at Little Falls, Minn., son of James and Nabella Houle. He was never married. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Mathilde Bagley, Bisbark, N. D.; Mrs. Ann Sweeney, Havre, Mont.; two brothers, Arthur Houle, Union City, Calif, and David Houle, Little, Falls, Minn. Mr. Houle was a contractor and carpenter for many years, recently retiring from active work. He was a veteran of world war II, serving 1942 to 1943. He was also a member of St. Leo's Catholic church at Minot. Funeral will be Saturday at Minot, N. D. The casket was taken this morning (Thursday) and sent by train to Minot. Caldwell-Linder funeral home In charge of arrangements. Newton L. Crubbs, 86, Funeral at Weeping Water Funeral services were held at the Hobson funeral home in Weeping Water Wednesday af ternoon at 1:30, for Newton L. Grubbs, 86, retired blacksmith of that community. Rev. C. F. Weideman officiated at the ser vice. The body was later taken to Graceland cemetery in Oma ha for interment. Surviving are the wife and a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Compton of Syracuse. Mr. Grubbs moved to Weeping Water thirty-two years ago from Omaha. Eagle High Has Baccalaureate, Commencement EAC-LE (Special) Eagle High baccalaureate services were held Sunday night at the school auditorium and com mencement Tuesday. At baccalaureate, the organ prelude and processional were by the music instructor, Mrs. Janet Allen. Invocation was by Rev. E. H. Prange of Eagle Im manuel Lutheran Church. He preached the sermon. Lee Westlake and a girls trio sang. At commencement, Mrs. Allen was at the organ. Invocation i was bv Rev. Robert Bowne, pastor of Eagle Methodist ; Church. The valedictory address was ! by Jerry Ronhovde, the saluta- tory by Fredrick Embree. j A boys quartet and a mixed 1 chorus sang. William Bozar, principal of Lincoln High, spoke. Principal and class sponsor; Pete Karabatsos presented the j graduating class. John Ronhovde, president of I the Board of Education, pre sented diplomas- and awards1 and 8th grade diplomas were! given by Supt. Commencement Held at Avoca High School AVOCA (Special) Baccalau reate was held Sunday and commencement Tuesday for Avoca High School graduates. At baccalaureate at First Lu theran Church, Mrs. John Al bers played the processional and recessional. Rev. L. Sherer gave the Invocation, sermon and benediction. Commencement was at the school. Mrs. Smith played the processional and recessional. The girls glee club sang. The valedictory address was by Linda Rohlfs and the saluta tory by Paul Ludwig. Craig Whitney, principal at Southeast High in Lincoln, spoke. Don Mattox, former mus ic teacher, sang. Supt. Lou Stueckrath present ed honors and introduced the graduating class. Mrs. Orpha Severn presented the 8th grade graduates. Awards were: DAR History, Peggy Stubbendick; lor greatest achievement, Darrell Brinkhoff; Midland scholarship, Miss Rohlfs; state school scholarship, Miss Ludwig, and alternate, Crystal Seegel.
