Those honored on their birth days were Mrs. Henry Knaup, Mrs. William Klemme, Mrs. James Stewart, Mrs. Alton Sterl ing, Mrs. Ed Freeman, Mrs. Ma bel Breckenridge and Mrs. Lynn Rothe. The Weeping Water school fa culty members were hosts at a picnic Tuesday evening for the members of the school board of education, their families and the school bus drivers and their familes. There were around 60 in attendance and the picnic was held in the school auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hanlan en joyed a trip to the State Lakes at Louisville Monday afternoon. A2c and Mrs. John Tyler and Johnnie were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Johnson. The baby was baptized Sunday morn ing by Rev. C. F. Weideman, pa.stor of the Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. John Saathoff were sponsors. Mrs. Ida Gregory of Ogallala is visiting at the home of her si.;ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson. Mrs. Leo Christen.sen visited in Lincoln on Tuesday with her daughters, Barbara and Mrs. Jerry Jayce and Jerry, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Renner spent the weekend in Weeping Water from his work at Wash ington, Kansas. Mrs. Renner re mained in Weeping Water for a short stay. Mrs. Lynn Parson entertained several little friends in the nei ghborhood at a party on Wed nesday evening in honor of the fifth birthday of her daughter Cappy. Mrs. John W. Noell of Greeley, Colo., is visiting at the home of her twin sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Baker. The two ladies celebrated thier bir thday on Wednesday and were given several parties. Mrs. Ralph Keckler took sev eral ladies to Avoca Sunday afternoon to the flower show. Mrs. Harold Meisinger spent Monday in Plattsmouth with her mother, Mrs. Emma Kaffenberg er. Plans were made to hold the Cass County Auxiliary convention in Weep ing Water in October. A tena tive date has been set for Oct. 21. Cradle Roll was observed Sun day at the close of the Sunday School at the Christian Church. A mission festival was held on Monday evening at the Lutheran Church near Avoca. Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Zeilinger from Kan sas were the speakers. They had spent 15 years doing missionary work in Africa. Erma Kirchhoff spent the weekend in Lincoln with the William Kimball family. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Plunkett and Wendell were Sunday after noon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Wooge and daughters at Crab Orchard. They were Sun supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Richardson. Sunday eve ning, they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eanos Plunkett and family. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gardner and family of Lincoln were Sun day dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinkamp. Mrs. Adam Cook reports that she received a letter from her daughter, Mrs. John Darling of Denver that she was in the hos pital with bronchial pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Upton and family visited relatives in Fremont on Sunday. ' Gladys Hohman and Kathryn Weber of Omaha were Saturday night pizza supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hohman and family. The M.A.O. Extension Club met Wednesday at the home ofj Mrs. Francis Thoren. Mrs. Ar-: nold Upton and Kenneth were guests and Mrs. Upton became a member. Mrs. Adam Cook went to the St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City on Monday and the cast was removed from her leg. She will : be on crutches as soon as the swelling goes down. The Opportunity Extension Club met for their September! meeting on Tuesday afternoon i at the home of Mrs. H. E. Blai kie with Mrs. Claude Hollen berger as co-hostess. Election of officers was held: president. Mrs. Alma Berner; vice president, Mrs. Herbert Pe tersen; secretary-treasurr Mrs. E. A. Michelsen, Sr.; reporter, Mrs. Henrv Knaup. The October meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Laurence Wiseman with Mrs. George Smith as co-hostess. Mrs. Fred Wildriek was sur prised on her 30th birthday when several of her neighbors came in for the occasion. She was presented several nice gifts and coffee and cake were served by the guests. Those attending were Mrs. Robert Baker, Mrs. Harold Thorns, Mrs. Grace Bar ter and Mrs. Mary Thorns. Mrs. Melvin Thorns entertained at a birthday party on Saturday in honor of the birthday of her son. Duane. Sixteen friends from the sixth grade were guests. Family night was held Monday evening at the Christian Church parlors when a number of fam ilies came with well filled bas kets for n fellowship dinner. Rev. Victor Schwarz showed slide pictures of his trip to Colorado and New Mexico this summer and also of the state convention that he and Mrs. Schwarz at tended. The Woman's Association of thp Congregational church met on Wednesday afternoon in the church parlors. Mrs. Elliott ap pointed the following commitees: Stewardship. Mrs. L. R. Mrs. Lynn Rothe attended a Sunday School convention meet ing on Wednesday evening at the Presbyterian Church in Mur ray. George Stine of Union is the president of the Convention with Mrs. Rothe as vice presi dent. Mrs. Raymond Lancaster of Murray is secretary and trea surer. The convention will be held in the Presbyterian church in Murray this year. There were about 20 persons from Louisville, Murdock, Elm wood, Alvo, Avoca, Murray and Weeping Water who met in Weeping Water last Thursday evening to make plans for the School of Christian Service. The School will be held in the Weep ing Water Christian Church on the first three Thursday nights next march (tentative). Rev. Victor Schwarz, pastor of the Murray - Weeping Water Christ ian Church was elected dean of the school with Rev. Joe Barr, minister of the Presbyterian Church of Murray, was elected assistant dean Mrs. Alvin Groesser visited on Monday afternoon with Mrs. John Grosser and Stephen. Mrs. Alice Wood is still re cuperating at her home from a broken pelvic bone .Mrs. Mase man of Avoca stays with her during the week and Mrs. Mil ton Prall stays with her over the weekend. Mrs. W. P. Wright accompan ied Mrs. Sterling Wiles to Oma ha where they visited with Mr. Wright in the University Hospi tal. His condition remains about the same. Roberta Roberts, four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Roberts, was elected mascot of the Weeping Water Pep Club for this school year. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wann of Pueblo, Colo., visited from Sat urday until Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cherry, Mrs. Wann is a sister of Mrs. Cherry. They were all Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie and family at Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Weeping- Water Dramat ics Club elected officrs at th bginning of the school year: president, Gary Wiles; vice pre sident, Mike Stacey; secretary. Dorothy Colbert; treasurer. Ruth Meyer; reporter, Judy Domingo Truman Lytic is the dramatics teacher. Mrs. Ed Freeman spent the weekend in Lincoln with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shomaker Lincoln visited Tuesday after noon and evening at the George and Elmer Stoehr homes. Mr. and Mrs. Shomaker are moving to Union over the weekend where they will be in busines. Mrs. Paul Luken and Mrs. O land Johnson were hostess to 17 youngsters of Collene Lukens class to honor her 7th birthday. After games, refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Muff, Mrs. Freda Muff, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Muff, all of Dow City, la., visited Thursday at the Gus Piatt home, Mrs. Piatt and the ladies called at the John Group home also drove into town to see the new house of Ed Group which is not yet finished. Marion Wissler entertained his parent, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wissler of Lewis, la.. Miss Ora Mauk, Griswold, la., Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Silver, Oklahoma on Thursday at his apartment at the Nessen home. They also called o Mrs. Nessen. Burgen were in Plattsmouth on Monday morning. While there they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Harvey. There are 33 children enrolled in the kindergarten class at the Weeping Water school, Mrs. Robert Shumaker is the teacher. There are 18 boys and 15 girls in the class. ' Mr. and Mrs. Glen McFee are the parents of a 7 pound girl, Rita May. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdoch of Nehawka are the ! maternal grandparents.
