Next meeting will be Oct. 21 with Mrs. Claude Scoles. Mrs. Raymond Nelson accom panied the Rev. and Mrs. Z. M. Bressler to Lincoln Tuesday where they attended the District Meeing of Congregaional Chur ches at St. John's Congregation al Church. The Ash Grove H's 4-H boys entertained the Lassies of the club at a wiener roast picnic at the Greenwood Park Sunday noon. The boys had won prize money at the fair and used it to entertain the girls group and all the parents. Mrs. John Jones and Elaine accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Bcrgantzel of Walback to Phoen ix, Ariz, last week to attend the fu-ieral of C. Woolman who was Mrs. Jones's and Mrs. Bergant zel's father. They spent a week In Phoenix visiting another sis ter, Mrs. Carla Fairbairn. As they returned home they visited a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Caryl Woolman at St. Paul. Mrs. Raymond Nel.-:on was hon ored with a surprise birthday picnic dinner at the Orville San dy home in Greenwood Sunday. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sandy and daughters of David City, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Liggit and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Fosnot and Jen nifer of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Keller went to Sioux Citv Wednesday and visited at the Charles Zink home until Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Zink brought them home and re mained for the weekend, then all attended the Scheffer Ceme tery Assn. picnic Sunday. Mrs Guy James of Grand Island al so attended. The wedding of MLss Helen Mumm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mumm of Omaha, and Peter Peterson was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Om aha Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Jones and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jones attended, along with Miss Hazel Jones of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jones and Guy. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bachman went to Glenwood, Iowa, Sunday and spent the day with Mr. Bach man's mother, Mrs. Jennie Bach man and with his sister, Mrs. Charles Wright and Mr. Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rau, Russell and Charles accompan ied Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farmer, Bill and Bob to Lincoln Sunday evening. They visited their sis ter, Mrs. Wesley Keiser at Lin coln General Hospital and saw her infant son, Allen Wesley. Mr. and Mrs. John B. Peter son were Sunday dinner guests of Sen. and Mrs. Tom Dooley at Papillion. The Petersons and Dooleys attended the Ak-Sar-Ben rodeo in the afternoon. Last Thursday Victor Schwarz and Clifford Rogers attended the Planning Committee meeting for the School of Christian Service at Weeping Water. The school will bo held in March. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Gansamer, Gay and Janet were busy mov ing into their new home in Murray last week. We are glad to welcome the Gansamers and sorry that Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hild moved away. The Gansam ers were dinner guests at the Earl Mrasek home on Tuesday evening. Those com ing from the longest distance were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dod ds of Beatrice. Rev. and Mrs. Everett Will mott & son, Jonathan of Detroit called on Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sporei Tuesday. They had been vacationing at Walla Walla, Wash, and were returning to their home Mrs. ilmott is the former Josie KLser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kiser who were onetime residents of Eight Mile Grove. Mrs. Sporer and Mrs. Willmott were school chums' and hadn't seen each other in 50 years. The Willmotts spent 28 years as missionaries in India. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Todd arc parents of a girl born Sept. 21 at Methodist hospital, Omaha. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Piper of Platts mouth and paternal grandpar ents arc Mr. and Mrs. Orville Todd. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Akeson of FlattMnouth and Mrs. C. D. Spangler of Murray. The baby has a great-great-grandmother in Falls City and a brother Danny who is waiting to make her ac quaintance. Mrs. Ronald Hustetter attend ed the funeral of John Leddy at Ashland on Sept. 16. The American Legion Auxili ary meeting was held at the Le gion Hall Tuesday as "Guest Day." President announced that the 12th District Convention will be held at Nebraska Citv Oct. 18. Delegates elected were Mrs. Ma ry Gobelman, Mrs. Eva Becker, Mrs. Violet Attebery, Mrs. Gol da Brannon and Mrs. Marion Clark, Alternates are Mrs. Don Wolfe, Mrs. Hazel Wolfe, Mrs. Elsie Frans, Mrs. Robert Har rah Sr. and Mrs. Carl Everett. Hostesses were Margaret Ev erett, Gretchen Everett, Esther Kendall, Deborah Mullls and Violet Dye. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rogers returned last Sunday from an enjoyable 21i-week vacation in California. In Santa Monica, they vi.lited Mrs. Margie Parrish, sister of Mrs. Rogers and two daughters. They visited Disney Land and Catalina Island and Knott's Berry Farm. On their way home they stopped at Fort Collins, Colo., where they visit ed Mrs. Roger's sister, Mrs. Orin Mason. Rathe. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rathe and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hendrix. Mrs. Curtis Dixon of Ft. Cal houn passed away Sunday Sept 21 at Methodist Hospital in Oma ha. Mrs. Dixon was the former Clementine Roddy daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Roddy of Union. She was born March 19, 1898 at Union, married Curtis Dixon of Ft. Calhoun, July 16, 1919 and spent her married life at Ft. Calhoun. She is survived by her husband Curtis Dixon of Ft. Calhoun, one son, Gearld Dixon of West Point, and two daughters, Dorothy Dixon of Omaha and Mrs. Jack Smith of Bridgeport; her mother Mrs. James Roddy of Union; one sister, Mrs. Carl Wessel of Union; five brothers. Leo, Frank, and Hubert of Union, Robert of Omaha and Herbert of Denver. Funeral and burial services were at Ft. Calhoun Tuesday. Mrs. Henry Dickman was host ess to Good Will Club Thursday afternoon. Cass County Heart Deaths Rise by Cass County heart death show ed a rise in percentage but a de cline in numbers for 1957, ac cording to statistics just releas ed by the State Bureau of Vital Statistics. Up over the statee by only one-tenth of one per cent, death rates due to cardiovascular cau ses are up six-tenths of one per cent nationally. Egan, M. D., Ne braska Heart Association Public Education Chairman, suggested that "great strides have been made by research into cardio vascular problems, but the sta tistics show that there remains a great deal to be accomplish ed." In other past years, Cass county percentages of death from heart causes and numbers of heart death were: 1953, 51 (94 1; 1954, 53 (87); 1955, 61 (110). This year, Cass County raised $2,225 for the Heart Fund Drive. The goal was $2,214. Dr. L. S. Pucelik of Plattsmouth was county chairman and each city or town had an individual chair man or sponsoring organization. Those chairmen have been awarded Certificates of Appre ciation from the Nebraska Heart Association, according to Dr. Stephen L. Magiera, association president.
