Carr led the devotional period; program was planning the con vention that is to be held in Avoca, Oct. 2. Mrs. Willis Fletcher, Nebraska City, visited at the Roy Ruhge home Sunday morning. In the afternoon, Mrs. Fletcher attend ed a shower honoring Mrs. Vin cel Shrader, a recent bride, at the United Missionary Church parlors in Weeping Water. Mrs Clyde Fletcher of Avoca, an aunt of the bride, was one of the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hallstrom and children were in Syracuse recently to help her parents Rev. and Mrs. Hefner observe their 39th wedding anniversary and the 25th year that Rev. Hefner has been pastor of Lutheran Memorial Church of Syracuse. Mrs. William Gollner, Mrs. John Nutzman. Funral services were held in Syracuse at the Tonsing Funeral Home Monday a. m. for Wil liam Glanbitz. 76, who passed away at the home of a son, Francis at Springfield, Mo. Rev. F. Mc Fadden conducting. He had been in ill health for two years. His wife proceeded him in death several years ago. He is survived by four sons and grandchildren. Mrs. Lydia Bockelman sold her machinery and livestock at a public sale Tuesday afternoon. The Alvo W.S.C.S. ladies served lunch at the sale. The Mothers and Daughters Council met with Mrs. Harvey Heier Friday afternoon. Mrs. Arthur Skinner was in charge of the program. She con ducted a "School". Starting with the flag salute, different classes were held. Several wore the dunce cap during the after noon. Rounds were sang and School closed by singing "School Days". Everyone who wished to was given the opportunity to try out the "Hula Hula, Hoop" to the record. Next meeting will be at 1 o' clock luncheon in the church basement the third Thursday in October. Dick Printz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Printz has been sta tioned in Africa, came home ear ly Monday morning. He will be stationed at Fort Crook, near Omaha. The 4-H Orioles met Sept. 20 at the home of Jean Marie and Dick Rieckman. Next meeting will be held Oct. 4 at the home of Art Roelofsz. Anna Nickel celebrated her 90th birthday Sept. 18. Charlie Anderson went to Hebron to help with the Nurs ing Home while his mother went to Colorado Springs to see a Grandson who had been in a bicycle accident. Mrs. A. B. Stromer took her grandson.
