It should be said (but not to take any credit away from the brilliant Plattsmouth .squad which pleased the home portion of a crowd of about 1.500 no end! that Bellevue was not at. full strength. Flu kept several players out of the name. : . The Blue Devils themselves were weakened by loss of guard Jerry Haase and minor injuries to several players. But, there was no doubt from the start who was to be master. Plattsmouth scored on its first successful running play. Full back John Konfrst sprinted 54 yards for the TD which came with 9:17 left in the first quarter. It was the first of 5 straight TPs by the 100 pounil junior. Tom Dunham dropkieked the extra point and th? Blue Devils were off to the races. And, race they did for 614 total yards gained, 439 by rush ing and 175 by passing by Gary Horan and freshman Jim Stew art. So sure were Plattsmouth's TD thrusts that it registered only 11 first clowns in tallying 12 TDs. And. so stout was its defense that Bellevue' wound up with just 77 yards net and 33 net by rushing. ... :r,l wit , 1 . Elmwood Retains Win Status ELMWOOD Elmwood, one of the state's few remaining unde feated six-man football teams, retained that status by winning an Important Cass County game here Friday, 34-25 over Nehaw ka. It was Elmwood's 5th straight success this season and kept it atop the six-man rankings. In five games, Elmwood has scored 164 points to only 87 for its opponents. Thev were all rough, rushing Bellevue 's passers so fast that four passes were in tercepted. Coach Burclette Hansen clear ed his bench and his Blue Devils continued to uiess for yardage right to the final gun. They led at the stops by 13-0, j 38-0, and 57-0. Dunham converted, 7-0. 2:34 Konfrst off the left side for 54 yards after Al Dasher had run 30 two plays earlier. Even after that, the Blue Devils were unwilling to relax. Allbee intercepted a pass with :04 left and his team got in two Incom plete passes, the last as time ran out. Robert Hirz Is Reported Showing Some Progress Robert W. Hirz of this city, injured in an auto accident Wed nesday near Sibley, la., is re ported as getting along as well as can be expected at the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, la., where he has been since the accident. Mr. Hirz suffered a badly splintered right ankle as well as broken ribs and apparently a punctured lung. From the ex amination at Sibley it was dis closed that seven ribs were bro ken. At the hospital in Sioux City, some surgery has been carried out on the ankle, but owing to the lung injury, the surgery on the ribs will be tak en up later. Reports are that bleeding from the lungs has ap parently stopped. His condition has been most encouraging as to his early recovery. Eli Zucker, driver of the car in which Mr. Hirz was riding, has been released from the hos pital as his injuries were of a minor nature. At the weekend Howard Hirz, brother, and Mrs. Bob Slavicek, sister of Robert Hirz, were at Sioux City to visit the patient. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. James Begley were at the hospital and were accompanied by John Hirz, son of the Injured man.
