Both teams are 1-4 so far this season but when the two schools meet past records mean little. Bellevue would probably con sider Its season a sucress if It could win Friday night. Plattsmouth will be no less anxious to win before the Home coming crowd. Hansen thinks the game Is a key one for his squad. City JayCees Lose Donkey Football Game Bellevue, favored by the breaks (if not the bruises), defeated Plattsmouth, 14-6, Wednesday night in a donkey football game between the Junior Chambers of Commerce of the two towns. It was played at the Sale Barn and was for the benefit of the Athletes Injury Fund here. No announcement on receipts for the fund was made today. In the game, the field was a little wet and the donkeys a little wild but it was Kood enter tainment for the spectators. Bob Nickels scored the Platts mouth TD on a klckoff return in the second quarter. Bellevue scored two TDs and downed a Plattsmouth rider In the end zone for a safety to a ccount for its 13th and 14th points (despite all the feet there is no point kicking in donkey football) Penalties were rides on Hurr icane Jackson, a particulary un cooperative beast. Even referee Stanley Cole was favored with such a ride. At halftime Jay Winters and Buzz Sayers rode Hurricane In payment of a lost bet. The P.A. system at the game was set up by Charles Warga. He and JayCee president Har old Smock were announcers. Pine Ridge Deer Hunters Set 70 Success Ratio FORT ROBINSON Resident deer hunters racked up a fab ulous 70 per cent succer.s score during the first six days of the early Oct. 4 to 11 season in the Pine Ridge. Reports reaching here show that 2,646 of the 3,740 permit holders scored during that period. When all returns are in for the completed season, Game Commission officials expect the hunter success score to ap proach the 78 per cent made during last year's hunt. Checking station totals at the end of six days: Crawford, 1,165; Fort Robinson, 239; Har rison, 323; Chadron, 578; and Rushville, 341. Nebraska's second season in the Pine Ridge runs from Nov. 1 to 11. That opening date also applies to the five-day season in the Plains, Upper Platte, Sandhills, Upper Missouri,. Elk horn, and Halsey areas. Cass County Lakes Stocked By State Nebraska waters are 76,000 fish richer, for that is the num ber of adult and fingerling gamefish stocked recently by the Game Commission. In ad dition the department released about 4,500 pounds of 4 to 8 -pound carp. Stocking included in Cass County: Weeping Water Park Lake, crapples, perch; Louis ville State Lake No. 3, perch. Barn owls are valuable rat catchers and are seldon seen because they carry on their ac tivities t nicht. Jerry Wurtele is still nursing a broken hand and his status is doubtful; and center Toby Al lbee missed practice Tuesday. He suffered a chest injury two weeks ago. 'Excessive' Tax Here Reduced Occupation tax for the Duck Pin Alleys here was reduced Monday night from $50 to $10 by action of the City Council. Operator August Gall of the alleys appeared to ask the Coun cil to consider lowering the tax because he operates the estab lishment only 82 months a year and only a few nights a week. He said the business was once much bigger than it is now and probably deserved a higher tax. Councilmen George Kalasek, William Highfield and Louie Swoboda all agreed the tax was excessive. The city tax ordinance does not mention duck pin alleys in connection with fees for bowl ing alleys, City Atty. Harold Lebens told the Council. Consider, here was a Falls City team which hadn't been scored on by a Nebraska team,, was one of the best in its class in the state, was big and fast and at full strength. Then, there was the Platts mouth team, shorthanded through injuries, having lost three out of four games and without a full-scale practice for more than a week because of weather and Injuries. The remarkable thing was the spirit with which the Blue Devils fought back to lose the "second part" of the game only 21-19. Plattsmouth's showing was a real crcedit to players and coaches. We're not discounting the fact that it would have been nice to win. But, a team's way of losing is also important. The State Game Commission has this warning for hunters: It is unlawful to hunt, kill, or attempt to kill any waterfoul from a boat or watercraft pro pelled by sails or gas or other power, or from an airplane; and it is unlawful to construct blinds on state-owned lakes or to destroy, molest or disturb natural or planted vegetation on or near state-owned lakes.
