A Halloween party with games and stories was under the direc tion of Mrs. Emma Nutzman, program chairman. Mrs. Nutz man read a Halloween story and Mrs. Elmer Stoll read, "When the Frost Is on the Pumpkin". Roll call was "How I Met My Husband". Mrs. Oren Pollard gave a report of her recent trip to the Jackson-Perkins gardens at Newark, N. Y. Guests were Mrs. Frank Royal and Kevin of Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Butch Goodman bi ought a load of watermelons from Missouri and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Neumeister sponsored a watermelon feed Tuesday even ing for all the high school stu dents at the school G. W. Weik assisted with the serving. Mrs. G. Cabbage of Omaha was guest speaker at the meeting of the Junior Womans club Thurs day evening at the home of Mrs. Vance Balfour. She spoke on color, line and clothes and hats. Mrs. Fred Hansen presided. She announced that two mem bers of the club were elected as Cass county officers of Feder ated Womens clbs, Mrs. Elmer Ross is the new vice-president and Mrs. Ivan Hansen, the secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Victor Foss icave a report of the con vention held at Plattsmouth re cently. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Harvey Bailer, Mrs. Howard Heesch, Mrs. Sheldon Mitchell, Mrs. G. W. Weik and Mrs. Bob Wunder lich. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Jack Llndsey and Wilda Mitchell, recently returned from Germany, will be the speaker. Mrs. George Kime presided at the meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary. The Auxiliary will entertain Its members and families and Le gion members and families at a covered dish dinner to mark Ve terans Day Nov. 12 at 6:30. Delegates to the district con vention are Ann Neumeister, Pearl Kime, Norma Barkhurst, and Josephine Fitch. Alterates are Emma Nutzman, Grace Sturm and Lenna Kime. Hostesses were Mrs. Victor Ross and Mrs. Ned Nutzman. Mrs. Grace Neumeister was a guest at a coffee at the home of Mrs. Roy Ruhke of Avoca Fri day morning. Mrs. Emma Nutzman attended a Republican committee meet ing at Nebraska City. Ollie Attebery, Judy and David were guests at a dinner Sunday honoring J. R. Dysart of Union on his 81st birthday. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Burr Standley, Wayne, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Feusner and family, Weldon, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Attebery and family. Mrs. Henry Ross and Mrs. Ol lie Attebery attended the Otoe county meeting of the Federated Womens clubs at Talmage Wed nesday. Mrs. Attebery spoke on "Leadership". Mr. and Mrs. George Waldo, Mrs. Donald Hunter and child ren of Omaha were guests Fri day evening of the Wm. Waldos. The Hunter family plan to move to Sacramento, Calif., soon. Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard, Mrs. Emma Nutzman, Mrs. Ned Nutzman and Mrs. Deane Nutz man attended the Eastern Star at Weeping Water Tuesday even ing. Assistant hostesses were Mrs. Deane Nutzman, Mrs. Ned Nutzman and Mrs. Emma Nutz man. George Pollard is at Mayos, where he went through the clin ic and later had surgery. His condition is much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Garrett re ceived an announcement of the birth of a daughter, Cynthia Ann, to Mr. and Mrs. James H. Real (Berneta A Garrett). Rodger Dodson was elected president of the Nehawka Sport mens Club when they met Fri day evening at the Ag building Bill Ross was elected secretary treasurer. Harold Dodson, retiring pres ident reported 250 "No Hunt ing'" signs were printed for the closed area, 4600 acres south of Nehawka. Dues were paid. They voted to place large signs at the corners of the area. The Nehawka P. T. A. will meet at the school Oct. 24. Hal Hansen and Gerald Shrader will show the pictures of last years school carnival. Dr. R. R An dersen plans to give a talk on Asiatic Flu. Tuesday six members of the F. F. A. with their instructor, Duane Everett, were to attend the National F. F. A. conven tion for three days at Kansas City, Mo. The boys are Don Harvey, Don Uhe, Roger Bal four, Bob Garrens, Terry Brli- ey and Jerry Harshman. Mrs. Walter Wunderlich went to Chicago Sunday and return ed Wednesday. She made a business trip and visited friends Mr and Mrs. Robert Schlic- temeier and sons were weekend guests if her parents, Mr and Mrs. James Budin of Clarkson. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Waddell and David, Mrs. Carrie Waddell Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tibbets, all of Pawnee City, Mr. and Mrs Vernon Bangert and family, Mil ford were guests Sunday of the Senn Waddells. The furnishings of the old school will be auctioned off at the old school building Oct. 26. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Johnson entertained their club Friday evening. Mr. Floy Buell and Mrs. Lucy Lyle, Lincoln, spent the day Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross and family. Mrs. Minnie Kruger, Roch ester, Minn, who spent the sum mer with her sister, Mrs. Em ma Ruthledge, left Sunday for Omaha where she will be guest for week of Mr nd Mrs Everett Rutledge and Mrs. Florence Mills. She will then visit her son at Sioux Falls, S. D and go home from there. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ruthledge and Mrs. Emma Rutledge took her to Omaha and visited Edgar Newton at the hospital. George Pollard returned Sun day from the Mayo hospital in Rochester, Minn, where he un derwent surgery last week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dick- man and Joan, Otoe, were guests Sunday at the Cecil Garrett home. Robert Sand, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Sand, has receieved the "O M. Franklin" scholar ship. The award is given each year to an outstanding senior in the School of Veterinary Medi cine at Manhattan, Kan., where he is a student. The first vet schol open house will be held at Kansas State on Oct. 26. Among the skeletons on display will be one of a dog made by Mr. Sand. He assembles and sells skeletons to animal hos pitals to help finance his educa tion. Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard were guests Sunday at the W. S. Nolte home near Mynard. Evelyn Wolph will entertain the Jonathan Cass chapter of the D. A. R. at her home Fri day afternoon, October 18. The Maple Grove extension club will meet Thursday after noon, Oct. 17 with Mrs. Amelia Balfour. Mrs. Marion Tucker went to meet Miss Wilda Mitchell, who returned home recently from Nurenberg. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Oberle fam ily, spent Sunday at his par ents home, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oberle and Judy. On Sunday evening the latter visited Mr. Oberle's father. Mr. Rudolph Oberle, who is convalescing at a nursing home in Lincoln. In order to give our customers better water heating service, the re strictions on charging lime and heating element capacity are being relaxed.
