"Lindy" Wolever Hurt in Slide: Has Given Up Crutches Special to The Journal Charles "Lindy" Wolever, playing manager of the Genoa baseball team of the Cornhusker League, has cast his crutches aside and is in a walking cast after receiv ing a sprained ankle and split bone of the left leg, June 10. The manager was sliding into second base where he received the leg injury. lie was taken to Genoa Hospital for an overnight stay. Genoa leads in the league standing. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gorton attended funeral services of Mr. Gorton's uncle in Nebraska City, Wednesday. M. and Mrs. Fred Gard ner have purchased a home at the west part of Platts mouth at 1800 Avenue C. Mrs. Gardner is employed at the Kent Cafe and Mr. Gardner is an Allied Chem ical Plant employee. Mr. and Mrs. Doran Bow man and children, Linda and Dwayne and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wall are visiting in San Liando, Calif., for two weeks with the Mason Wall fam ily. Mrs. Mary Campbell en tered University Hospital, Omaha, Friday for obser vation. Mr. and Mrs Deimas Gutzen writer and family of Shenan doah, Iowa, called on Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gardner Monday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and daughters visited in Sidney, Iowa, Sunday. A group of cub scouts from den 5 went to Riverview Park in Omaha Tuesday, sponsored by Mrs. Albert Hansen and Mrs. LaVerne Liddick. Those attend ing were Billy and John Thomp son, Terry Ellingson, Robert Keyes, Stephen Gold, Jimmie i Wall, P. J. Dingman, Allan McNulty, Tommy and Susie Han sen, Michael and Peggy Liddick. Bill French, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin French, entered St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Wednesday morning and sub mitted to an appendectomy. George Ujdur of Duluth, Minn., spent a few days at the Milton Muncie home. B. Kraft and her sisters and brothers. Mrs. Carl Kraeger re turned home Saturday eve ning from the Clarkson Hos pital, Omaha after submit ting to surgery. Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams were Mr. and Mrs. William Williams, Mrs. Esther Kahler and children; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Rhoades and Patty, and Mrs. Norman Rhoades, all of Platts mouth. Other guests were Mrs. Lee Williams, Mrs. Roger Wil liams and children of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Mc Guire of Milwaukee Wise. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keller accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Tindall and children of Hollywood, Calif., took a tour through Boys Town in Omaha Monday. In the evening the Kellers entertained at dinner in their home' honoring the out of town guests. Other guests in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vallery and Mr. and Mrs. Em erson Wiles. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Coun terman and sons, Terry and Gary, departed for Denver, Colo., Tuesday where they will make their future home. Mr. Counterman was sta tioned at Offutt Air Force Base and with his family lived in Valley View. ' Mr. and Mrs. Frank Godwin of Fallon, Nev., departed for their home Thursday after a visit in Plattsmouth at the Joe and Frank Libershal homes. Visitors at the Fred Feld housen home and departing for their home in Frankfurt, Kans., Wednesday morning 5 were Mrs. Feldhousen's par- -ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Fitch, and her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fitch and Marguerite. Mrs. John Rummel just re cently returned from a pleas ant vacation in California where she visited her mother who had recently been in the hospital. Mrs. Rummel also had the pleasure of meeting her new granddaughter and family. Geral Switzer of Nehawka shot a fox Saturday evening on the Wildon Switzer farm ' near Nehawka. Neil Lancaster has en rolled at University of Den ver for the summer course, working for his masters de gree. Bill Moore, minister of the Christian Church at Louisville was in Plattsmouth Tuesday in the interest of Cotner School of Religion of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. John Bark hurst and daughters, Mrs. George Dieckman and Mrs. Annie Hansen of Nehawka were callers at the Henry Thiele home Tuesday after noon. Mr. and Mrs LeRoy Wilson and children visited Mr. Wil son's parents in Fremont Sun day and were overnight guests. Mr. and Mrs Wilson took their son, Dave, to Camp Cedars where he will join other boy scouts at camp this week. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Furse returned home Tuesday from Henning, Minn., where they spent some time at their summer cottage on Sandas Beach. The WTomens Elliott bowling team, winners of the City Bowl ing Tournament, entertained their families at a picnic at Sokol Park Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Les Niel de parted early in the week by train for Wyoming and Oregon where they will vacation. The couple will return to Nebraska by car with Mr. Niel's sister. ik Clyde Lau and wife from Los Angeles are visiting Mr. Lau's mother, Mrs. Mary Campbell, at the Herman Grove residence for several days. They plan to return today (Thursday). Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Haith were in Kansas City over the weekend, returning their son, John, home with them. Mrs. Irene Troop and daughters, Sandra and Judy Pink have returned to Plattsmouth after staying in Irvington since November. Bob Humiston has returned Idaho, where he visited his mother and family. Mr. and Mrs. Humiston departed Mon day for Republic, Kans., where the visited Mrs. Humistons par ents. Mrs. T. L. Rogers depart ed Thursday morning for Long Beach, Calif, .after vis iting relatives and friends in Plattsmouth for two months. Houseguests of Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Mr. Clinkenbieard reported for work at Cffutt Air Force Base Wednesday. Jerome Shellenbarger spent Saturday night and Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Shellenbarger. Jerome is em ployed at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Houseguest at the N. W. McKee home is Barbara Joe Johnson, of Lincoln, a niece of Mr. and Mrs. McKee. R. T. Charles McVay of Omaha is still in the St. Mary's Hospi tal, Nebraska City, receiving treatment for rheumatic fever. He entered the hospital June 18. Tuesday evening the so cial committee of the Cath olic Daughters held a tea honoring Mrs. Fred Rea who has been elected State Re gent. The table was beauti ful in silver and crystal. Mrs. Rea poured. She was presented a gift from the Court by Mrs. William Wool cott. A. B. Rogers is a patient at the Methodist Hospital, Omaha, for observation. Mrs. Don Born, former Platts mouth resident, now of Califor nia, was seen on Plattsmouth Main Street, today. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Clary left Saturday for Minnesota. Editor Bill Burton brought his wife, Barbara, and new daughter, Elizabeth Ann, home from the St. Cather ine's Hospital, Omaha, to day. George W. Hoover, 20. of Of futt Air Force Base, pleaded guilty and was fined a total of S30 on charges of illegal pos session of alcohol and drinking ' in an automobile. Floyd W.
