Dr. Frank A Court, the pastor open ed the worship. Mrs. Eldon Mendenhall of Elmwood, the district president, presided for the business ses sion. There were Eleven mem bers of the Elmwood Methodist Church attending. They receiv ed the officer's clinic training. The theme: "That All the World May Know" was present ed by a panel work shop on "World Understanding". New officers for the coming year were elected and installed. Mrs. Eldon Mendenhall was re elected and installed as presi dent. She is our member at Elm wood and we were happy to have her so honored for the second year. Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart Panska observed their golden wedding anniversary, April 24. Owing to the condition of Mrs. Panska's health, they had no celebration, but their relatives and friends gave them a card shower, with many good wishes expressed. Mr. and Mrs. Guy L. Clements and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Clem ents attended the bankers luncheon at Lincoln on Tues day. The ladies luncheon and entertainment was at the Uni versity Club. Mrs. V. G. Clem ents came for the evening ban quet at the Hotel Lincoln where the men's luncheon and meet ing was held. Mrs. Emma Jewell and Mrs Rhea Nuss, her daughter, both of Lincoln, visited at the home of another daughter of Mrs Jewell. Mrs. Ralph Creamer last Friday. Mrs. Ethel Strabel attended the American Legion Auxiliary of Union, annual luncheon and bazaar last Wednesday. There was quite a number of distin guished guests in attendance from the district and depart' ment. Mrs. Strabel, earlier in the day attended the distric morning meeting of the W. S C. S. in Lincoln. Have Open House Mr. and Mrs. George Blessing Jr. entertained at an open house for friends, Sunday evening aft er the wedding of Carol Ann their daughter, and the bridal party had gone. They received about thirty eruests who were served the wedding cake and ice cream. was also an opportunity for many of them to see the newly remodelled and decorated home of the Blessings. Several important changes were made, enlarging the living space by cutting away the wall between a former bed room and the addition of a fire place. Mrs. Robert Bornemeier and Mrs. Clark Hall had charge of the serving of refreshments. Mrs. Carie Gorthy of Trenton, N. J., arrived Sunday at the home of her niece Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoetter for an indefinite visit. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Oehlerk ing and family entertained for Sunday dinner Mrs. Bertha Oeh- erking, Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoet- ter, and Mrs. Gussie Jochens. Mr. and Mrs. George Eidenmil- er and daughter, Joyceola and her son, Robbie, drove to Over ton Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Grand Gard, Jr., and family. Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoetter re ports receiving a telegram tell ing of the death of a cousin, Bess Buell-Laurie, of Woodstock, 111. Miss Alice Young of O'Neill was a Saturday evening dinner guest of her cousins, Jessie and Maud Creamer, April 21. Miss Young is a student at the Uni versity of Nebraska, Lincoln. Sunday visitors and dinner guests of Maud and Jessie Creamer, were Miss Blanch Creamer of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Bratt and family and Fred Creamer of Waverly." Also afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Riedessel and children of Ashland. Satur day evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Creamer and their guests Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Churchill of Grand Forks, N. D. and their son, Steven. The evening Study Group of the Methodist W. S. C. S., Elm wood, were invited to meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Cook, Tekamah Monday April 23rd. Eleven members at tended. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Eve- land and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Cook were the dirvers. All en joyed the hospitality of the Cooks and their nice home. Mrs. G. R. Eveland and Mrs. Blanche Kuehn attended the Women's Wesleyan Educational Council of Nebraska at Lincoln. It was their 60th anniversary meeting. Early history of t h e council was given. ELMWOOD (Special) The 4-H Sewing Klattr Club was or ganized at the home of Mrs. Vera Kreifels of Elmwood. Sev enteen members and eighr vis itors were present. Officers of the club are pres ident, Sherry Stolz; vice-president, Nancy Millr; secretary, Karen Backemcyer; news re porter, Barbara Vogt. The next meeting will be held at the home of Nancy Mil ler, with assisting hostess, Kar en Backemeyer, May 28, at 2 p.m. The leaders will be Mrs. Vera Kreifels and Mary Lou Hall. Projects will be sewing. HYDRANT MISSING DALLAS, Texas Police are not only looking for the motorist who, failing to make a turn at a high rate of speed, smasheo. into a hydrant, shearing it off at the ground, but they are also looking for the hydrant. Superintendent and Mathema tics teacher, Clarence Souchek; music and math, Mrs. Ruth Godbey; commercial, Miss Jan et Yost; althletic coach, shop and science; Dale Vanderford. A teacher has been added to high school faculty so there are now 5 instead of 4. An English teacher is still needed. Mrs. Alta Burd is from Ash land and is teaching at Manley this year. Miss Janet Yost, is from Milford. This will be her first year of teaching. Mr. Dale Vanderford's home is at Peru and he is teaching at Unadilla this year.
