' -J 1 .) 1 Plattsmouth's new . hieh-K scnool gymnasium will be the scene of the district basketball tournament Jan. 19 - 21, Coach John Adkins has announced. Eight teams will participate, Westside meeting Ashland in the first game at 3 p.m. Wed nesday; Wahoo vs. Ralston at 4:45 that day; Valley vs. Blair at 6:30; and Belle vue vs. Platts mouth at 8:15. Winners of the first two games will play at 6:30 p.m Thursday; and of the other two games at 8:15. Friday night, the champion ship will begin at 8:15 and the preliminary at 6:30." The basketball squad has been in training nearly two weeks now, and the team trim med to about 25 members, with about the same number on the freshman squad. First game this season will be at Omaha Westside Dec. 3. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fletcher, Evell and Laura of Eldorado i Springs, Mo., visited their sons, ' Willis and Clyde and families here and daughter, Mrs. West near Weeping Water last week. Mrs. Elizabeth Straub and family have moved into the Paul Straub apartments. William Gollner passed away at his home Sunday, Nov. 14 after several months illness. Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran church Wednesday, Rev. F. Bracher of ficiating. He has re ceived his call to the air corps and they will be at home in New Mexico after December 1. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Grabowski and family are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Frans. Mr. Grabowski is being transferred from the air base in South Dakota to Texas. Mrs. Lloyd Lewis had the mis fortune to get a small piece of bone lodged in her throat last Sunday noon. She was taken to the Clarkson hospital on Monday afternoon where it was removed. She was kept over-: night and fed through , the veins. L. C. Hoschar celebrated his 85th birthday on Sunday, Nov. 7th. A dinner was given in his honor . at the W. E. Hoschar home, with 41 guests present, which were children, grand children and great-grandchildren. Mr. Hoschar is making his home at the Grand Acres rest home south of town on highway No. 75. ' The little Camp Fire Girls and Bluebirds have been selling candy to the Murray ladies with much success. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Read have been spending a few days in Al amena, Kansas visiting Mr. Read's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Iver Standish. Mrs. Lydia Midkiff, Union, spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Free- ;man and Devy. Minford was dis charged from the United States Navy after four years service. During that time, he served in Honolulu, the Marshall Islands, for eighteen months at Moffett .Naval Air Field, Calif., and for the last 10 months has been on the U. S. S. Jupiter, a naval air supply ship. The Jupiter carries Naval air supplies to Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Manila, in the Philippine Islands. George returned to the states on the carrier Windham Bay, which docked at San Diego, Cal if. He spent a week with , the James Pollards at Tacoma, Wash, and arrived home Nov. 7. Murray v Mrs. Fred Hild and Mrs. Will Minford attended the Goldenr.od Study Club at Mynard Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Myron Wiles gave a review of the last WOW tour with Mai Hansen and showed pictures of the trip. 1 Misses Pauline and Frances j Wilson left last Saturday for aj short visit at Boliver, Missouri. I They have relatives there. j Several of the Murray folks I enjoyed the Junior class play last week at Plattsmouth. The bazaar supper at the Christian church was well at tended and a fine supper was served. John Davis left last Saturday for Columbus, Ohio for an ex tended trip. Mrs. Les Wunderlich is "spend ing a week or so visiting her sis ter, Mrs. Alice Wagner of Thorn town, Ind. Mrs. Wagner has been visiting here and her sister ac companied her home.
