A record breaking crowd of over 500 swarmed to see one of the finest home talent productions to be "hown in Weeping Water for come tme. Ths show modeled after the nationally famous TV program was MC'd by Harold "Hod" Meyer with much ease and hu mor. The audience was charmed by his realistic impersonation of Ed Sullivan. During the evening in faithful mimicry, "celebrities" were in troduced, performers "inter viewed" and "commercials" in terrupted the show, including a brief preview of the Junior Class play, "No More Homework." Mrs. Neil Fitzpatrick, who sang a hillblly version of "This Old House" opened the evening with a laughing start. She was accompanied by Mrs. Roger Graw and assisting in the plot were Mrs. Fitzpatrick's two boys, Brian and Mike and Dorothy Parson and Dale Parson. Mr.' Truman Lytle's reading, "Yacob Strauss" was an endear ing bit of characterization. A group of third grade young sters under the direction of Mrs. Jim Kivett did some mighty fine stepping in a couple of square dances. The youngsters-participating were: Johnny Meeske, Billy Raines, Richard Lorensen, Dicky Ellott, Charlene Thoren, Georgia Ludwwck, Ruth Ann Patton and Mary Alice Wood. Following the small fancy steps of the little ones, larger, faster fancy . steps were done by Mr. and Mrs. By ron Baker of .Weeping Water, Mr. and Mrs. Al Rueter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rueter and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Rieckrnan, all of Murdock in a couple of square dances. Following this the younger and older groups joined their talents in a dance together with -the boys and women and girls and men paring up. Leo Kirchoff and Norman Petersen, a couple of "good eggs" supplied the slapstick comedy at the end of the number. A barber shop quartette, Hod Meyers, Roger Graw, Eugene Sundeen and Bob Miller, attired in derbies, white coats, mus taches of various hues, intro duced themselves from behind a huge -ed and white barber pole. They were amazingly ter rific. An inter estng and humerous reading in Italian dialect, "Tony at the Baseball Game," was even funnier because of the per sonal touchen added by Ray mond Knott. One of the biggest highlights of the evening was the. appear ance of Eugene Sundeen, who made hs debut in Weeping W ater as a wonderful singer and trumpet player. Mrs. Sundeen accompanied him at the piano. His first number was "Blue dinner guests at the Henry Engeleknier home in Platts mouth Sunday. He played this first on his trumpet and then sang the same song. He enchanted the evening so much that they brought ..him back for three en cores before they let him go. - Mtas I.ana Leu Bell, Lincoln, a thirteen 'year old toe and tap dancrr, presented a couple of dance with Mrs..L. N. Kunkel at the piano. Dr. L. N. Kunkel accompanied by his wife on. the piano, played several- selections on his violin and they were warmly received by the audience. . . The double piano number played by Stanley Wiles and Mrs. Kunkel was beautiful. Another of the funnier high lights of the evening was a wit ty, and hilarious skit put on by Bill Finley, Marion Stone, Lloyd Lane, Wayne Pederson and Bill Thornton. The time was the year 2,000 A. D. when the women will bring home the money and the men will care for the house, do the cooking and look after the children. The scene was the living room of Mr. Pederson where the weekly sewing circle met. Their afternoon was spent sewing, talking about ! ! ! and exchanging different ideas. The audience enjoyed the skit which these "men gave with gratifica tion. ' . Hod then introduced several persons who had much to do with gathering the talent, and putting on the show. "They were Eugene Sundeen, music instruc tor and band director of Weep ing Water school, Mrs. A. C. Pe tersen, president of the Band Mothers Club, who thanked everyone belonging to the club, everyone who turned out and everyone who had a part in the nrorram sponsored bv the Band Mothers, and Mrs. Bill Thornton, chairman of the event, who in turn thanked everyone. Miss Susan Stone in a band majorette uniform, displayed the new and beautiful baritone, sax- aphone recently purchased by the Band Mothers Following -the show, pie and coffee was "cold in the halls with the nrcceeds . going into the funds for new band equipment. Approximately $250.00 was real ized from this wonderful eve ning of entertainment. The Band Mothers are to be thanked graciously for their wonderful work in their first year of being organized.
