Spraying Corn Early Advised Spray your corn for weed control at the very early stage of growth to control weeds in the rows which can't be elimi nated by the cultivator. That's the advice of Extension Agronomist J. D. Furrer of the University of Nebraska. He says the earlier corn is sprayed the less likelihood of damage to the plant anytime after emergence until the corn is six inches high. A later application of weed kill ing chemicals may cause stalk bnttleness and increase the chance of the plant breaking on. Mr. Furrer recommends either the ester or amnie salt form of 3. 4-D. If the ester is used ap ply a fourth to a third of a pound per acre about one pint of the 40-44 per cent material. If the amine form is used the application rate is one to one and a half pints of 40 per cent material per acre.
