Andersen, Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. George McFadden and Mrs. A. F. Sturm, as co-hostesses. Mrs. John Chandler gave the devo tions and Hannah of the bible was her subject. Mrs. Glen Ku: ledge gave a mission talk on Japan. A blind auction sa:e was held. It was decided to ha e a Christmas party at the nex, meeting with an exchange of gifts. He was in a patrol car and passed the farm where Boyd was work ing southwest of Nehawka. He turned the corner and went west at a very rapid speed. Boyd called Sheriff Solomon and re ported the incident. I Mrs. Nelson Berger enter tained the Nehawka Woman's ciub at her home Friday after noon. Mrs. Ivan Hansen and a part of the choir girls, Marilyn and Donna Embury, Carolyn Wessel, Norma Ford, Valerie Mayfield, Mar- jodie Whipple and Patsy Mather sang "O Star of Bethlehem". Courtney and Deslie. of Flint, Mich., visited from Monday until Friday last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Adams. Mrs. W. A. Stoll is quite ill at her home. Mrs. Nelson Berger's -sister, Miss Allegra Wilkens, who was in a traffic accident in Lincoln last week is in a fair condition. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schreiner and three children of Dunbar, have moved into the place va cated by the E. L. Wilson fam ily. The children attend the Maple Grove school. Miss., U.R) Eight sets of twins were born at St. Dominic's Hospital in a six- week period. The Baptist parsonage is be ing papered and much other work has been done. A new porch has replaced the old one on the front and new walks have been laid. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church last ' Thurs day for Forest Barkhurst, who was found dead at his home several days before. Rev. Mc Millan, of Nebraska City, had charge of the services. Ray Frans sang two numbers. Mrs. Guerra accompanied him. Jane Schanot and daughter, eighty-fourth birthday on Mon day, November 28th. Mrs. Melvin Todd, Mrs. Rich ard Schant and idaughter, Joyce, and Mrs. L. G. Todd did some shopping in Nebraska City last Tuesday afternoon. The colored singers from Om aha, gave a fine program at the Methodist church last Wednes day evening. The attendance was not as good as the Youth Fellowship, who sponsored this program had hoped for, but the program was enjoyed by those who did attend. Mrs. Maggie Plymale of Ash land, is caring for Mrs. Frank Martin, who is not in very good health at present. Mrs. Donald Wolfe was cele brating her birthday last Wed nesday by having her parents. Mr. and Mrs Ben Neal and fam ily to supper. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wolfe came later to spned the evening. Bernadine Meyer visited her mother in Avoca last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Neal had as their guests last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Neal, Carol and David, of Nebraska City. The Homemaker girls of Union high school and their teacher, Mrs. Perry Jorn, gave a shower at the Methodist church last Tuesday evening for Mrs. Nor man Hemmer (Patricia Cream er) whose wedding took place cn November 12; h. A lace cov ered table was loaded with many beautiful and useful gifts for the bride. About fifty guests attended. In the game contests Mrs. Norma Fabian won the prize in the "Popular Love Songs" aud Mrs. Gallant Rakes won in the "Romance of Love Songs" and Mrs. Fred Clark won third prize in the "Initial" game. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses. The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at the home of Mrs. Ed Morris with Mrs. Frank Anderson assisting. Fifteen members attended. Re freshments were served after a short business meeting and a social hour. Guests at the Donald Wolfe home last Saturday evening for supper were Virginia Attebery and Charles Gribble.
