Fitzpatrick came to the home of Mr. Fitzpatrick's sister, Mrs. Edd Poedeker, where they sptnt several day? going from h-re to Imperial to visit other rela tives. Mr. Fitzpatrick was born and spoilt h's early years on a farm near Murray, and is the youngest sou of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Fitz patrick. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Philpot were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Deterding and daughter, Dt-lores, and Mrs. Harold Sheldon, all cf Council Bluffs. Chapter BT, F.E O., met Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. E. Teftt and her daughter. Miss Esther Tefft, with a program of musical numbers played by Mrs. Carl E. Day, and a report of the state meeting given by the presi dent, Mrs. Helen Clark. Sunday guests at the heme of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Day were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Switzer of Fremont, and Mr. and Mrs. Seward Day and fam ily of Lincoln. While here they visit ed Oak wood cemetery and assisted in decorating the graves of lelatives who are buried there. Harrison Miller formerly of Weep ing Wattr, who now lives at Los Angeles, visited friends in Weeping Water the first part of the week. Word has come from Mrs. W. D. Lenker, who has been at Falls City, is that her son, Charles Lenker, is improving in health, since his re cent operation. Rev. A. D. Burres, superintend ent of the Crowell Home at Blair, had charge of the morning services at the Methodist church, last Sun day, and was a dinner guest at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wise man. Mrs. Ellen Johnson widow of Os car Johnson, returned to Weeping Water this rast week for a visit after an absence of two years spent in California. Sterling Hayes re ceived a letter from their daughter, Helen, this past week, telling of her promticn to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Helen Hayes is at Camp Forest, Tennessee, where she has been for the past year. Mrs. Ernest Bates was able to come into Weeping Water Thurs day for the first time since her recent illness. Mrs. Lester Hoback went to Ne- hawka Thursday to visit their son. Lynn Hoback and wife. She return ed home Saturday. Honoring the Patterson brothers, who were at home on leave from the Navy, a picnic dinner was planned for last Sunday in the City Park, but owing to the rain the dinner was held at their parent's home. Mrs. John Bender and two children, Miss Pat terson, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Patter sou, LaNeil Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Coppel and dat:ghter, Joy, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lorensen and daughter, Jane. Mrs. Will Strabel of Elmwood, and her cousin, airs. Reckard, who went to Tabor, la., tc visit her daughter-in-law, Mrs. L. J. Reckard, who has been ill. Mrs. Charles Seeley fell Decora tion day evening and broke her hip. Her nephew and family of Syracuse, were there visiting, and she was playing with the children. Stepping backward suddenly she fell. She was taken to Elizabeth hospital for care. This was most unfortunate as she has been under the care of a physician for some time on account of fall which she had several months ago. Mrs. W. L. Meyer had as her guests Monday evening, her grand mother, Mrs. Edith Allen and her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Heneger, all of Lincoln. Guests at the Herbert Ambler home this past week were Mrs. Amb ler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Richesen, former Weeping Water residents, and recently making their home at Laurel, Mississippi. They were enroute to Canada. LaNeil Patterson left Tuesday ivening to return to duty in the Navy. Mrs. Charles Myers came from Grand Island, Sunday, with Miss Helen Gorder, and she will remain for a visit with relatives and her many friends in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Pattersen have moved back into their Weeping Wa ter home, recently occupied by the Homer Clarks who moved to Okla homa. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Waldo moved onto the Patterson farm south of town. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Gray went to York, Sunday, to spend th day with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Junge, and on their return brought home their two sons, Donald and Dale, home with them after the beys had enjoyed a two week visit with rela tives. Mrs. C. A. Robbins of Lincoln, came Saturday for a visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Wilkinson, and remained until Tuesday evening. Weeping Water Woman's club held their annual club breakfast on Tuesday morning at. 9:30, at the .1 and M cafe, when the new officers were installed for the coming year and plans made for the next year's work. Decorations were pink peon ies, pink roses, columbine and calen dulas, with nut cups in spring col ors, to match. Mrs. John Norris presided and also acted as installing officer, opening the meeting with a few moments of silent prayer for ihe men who, on that day, started the big invasion on the coast of Fiance, and for the success of the allies everywhere. Devotions were led by Mrs. John H. Pry or alter which a short business meeting was held when it was decided to hold only one meeting per month this year, the same as last year. New ofiicers installed were: President. Miss Esther Tefft: vice president. Mrs. T. Hugh Hanlan; secretary, Mrs. Homer Jamesen. Mrs. Floyd Hite, treasurer, was absent. The new members of the executive committee are Mrs. John H. Pryor, Mrs. Har old Elliott and Mrs. Ben Olive. Ont out-of-town visitor was present, Mrs. C. A. Robbins of Lincoln.
