Girl, Stranded Here, Questioned i Disappearance of Two Men W ho Brought Mother, 16, to Omaha, Mystery. Columbus. Neb.. March 13.—(Spe cial.)—After being grilled for two hours by Deputy Sheriff Jawroski and County Attorney Otto Walter, Mrs. Evelyn Sparks Fletcher, 16, was un able to throw any new clues on the / mysterious disappearance of Ralph 1 Baker, 23, and a business associate with whem she took a motorcycle ride to Omaha, only to be deserted In the city penniless. Baker and his pal came to Colum bus last week, announcing they were going to open an upholstering and furniture repair shop. They purchas ed a $225 motorcycle from Ernest Fredricks, paying $50 down. Accord ing to Mrs. Sparks-Fleteher, she ac companied the two men In the mo torcycle and sidecar to Omaha, leav ing Thursday and camping over night between Schuyler and North Bend. When they reached Omaha Friday, they asked the girl to go to the Keen hotel while they took the ma chine to a garage at Seventeenth and Harney streets. They failed to re turn and tho girl went to the Y. W. C. A., where she was given food and lodging and her fare home. Omaha police were notified, but the men had disappeared. Mrs. Sparks Fleteher said she had been hired to keep house for the two men. She is the mother of a 7-mnnths-old child and was married two years ago to a 40 years old, whom she later di \ orced. Firemen Respond to Country Call to Put Out Fire A $10,000 loss was suffered Monday night at the Forest TV. Byrd nursery, e.601 Dodge street, when a combina tion dwelling and garage was almost lompletely destroyed by fire of un determined origin.
