Mrs. A. S. Tibbetts and Mrs. H. II.
Wheeler gave a parlor lecture at the
homb of the former on Tuesday after
noon. Mrs. Stoutenborough was the
speaker and her subject, "The Mother's
Influence" was eDJoyed by a large num
ber of women.
Mrs. A. S. Tibbatts gave a large heart
party Saturday. No prizes were award
ed. but eachcuest was presented with a
rote. The refreshments were elegant
Mrs. P. W. Hill, Miss Tibbets and Miss
Nora Miller assisted the hostess.
The Saturday Night club held the
second fortnightly dance last Saturday
night at Walsh hall. MisBes Hamilton,
Putnam, Hayes, Hollowbush, Marshall,
Chapin, McHenry, Wirt, Morgan, Wood
ward. Johnson, Burrus3, Bignell and
Douglas; Messrs. Kennard, Crandali,
MatBon, Baldwin, Watkins, Holmes,
Morrison, Morley, Perrine, Walsh, An
derson, nayes, Rogers and Grant, were
the familiar friends who danced and
laughed together.
Mr. and Mr6. S. C. Hoover entertain
ed the Nineteenth Century card club
Monday evening. Messrs. and Mes
dames Guenzel, B. W. Richards, Foster,
Bignell, Quiggle, A. L. Hoover, Wilkin
son, Chapin, Usher, Mrs. Aach of Burr
Oak, Kans.r and Miss Louise Hoover
were the players.
The members of the L. A. kensing
ton met with Mrs. O. N. Humphrey
lattt Monday afternoon. The afternoon
passed very pleasantly in making ar
rangements for an old fashioned party
to be given sometime during the holi
days. Mrs. D. D. Lynch gave a luncheon
at one o'clock on Thursday, December
I3th for Mrs. James B. Hume of Madi
son, Nebr, and Mrs. M. Bordwell of
Los Angeles, Cal. Others invited were
Mesdames Stuart, Maret, Nelson and
Steckelburg.
The South Side circle of the First
Christian church gave a reception at
th9 Governor's mansion last Tuesday
evening. About two hundred guests
called during the evening.
The Round Table was entertained
last Monday evening by Dr. W. M.
Uindman. The 3ubject for discussion
was "Theories of Taxations."
