at the chayter house last Saturday eve
ning. The following members of Sigma Al
pha Epeilon enjoyed a theatre party at
the Oliver theatre last Saturday evening.

Miss Laura Houtz entertained most
delightfully hmt Tuesday evening in
honor of Miss Barker of Portland, Ore
gon, and Miss Winifred Kelly. Hearts
was played during the evening, Miss
Outcalt and Mr. Morrison being the re
cipients of two pretty prizes. Thoso

Last Tuesday afternoon and evening
Mrs. HannB Peter Lau entertained a
large number of her friends. Cards
were played and the time passed most
pleasantly. In the afternoon, prizes

Miss Vera Norris of CreBton, Iowa,
guest of Miss Mabel Barrick vas very
pleasantly entertained at Miss BarricK'a
home last Tuesday afternoon. The
rooms were tastefully decorated in the
Q. A. T. colors, pink and red, and light
ed by Japanese lanterns. The refresh
ment table was festooned in smilax and
roses. Slippery Ann, a game of hearts
was played. Prizes were won by Mrs.
Graham, Mrs. Evans and Miss Dalby.
Miss Morris and McKay assisted Miss
Barrick in receiving the guests. Those
present were Mesdames Sutter, Hallett,
Graham, Arnett, Evans, Jarrett, Van
derpool, Chapman, Mosshart, Boney;
Misses Norris of Creston, la., Dalby,
Beach, Marie Beach, Vinnia Beach, Mc

strong. The engagement of Miss Mary R.
Campbell of this city to Dr. David R.
Major of Columbia University has been
announced.
One of the prettiest receptions of the
season was given Thursday afternoon
from three to si: at the home of Mrs.
Rosa Funke in honor of Mrs. E. K Har
ris. Those who received were Mes
dames Funke, Mansfield, Harris, Howe
and Cowdery. The reception room was
in green and white. Graceful palms
and large white chrysanthemume were
in abundance. The walls were festoon
ed in smilax. The hall was alEO in green
and white, a large bank of palms con
cealing the orchestra. The drawing
room was in green and yellow. At a
table draped in evergreen and covered
with roses, Mrs. George Woods served
ice assisted by Mrs. Thomas. Mes
dames Carl Funke and Ladd served
coffee. Mrs. Ewing presented each one
of the guests with a large chrysanthe
mum as a souvenir. In the dining room,
made beautiful with American Beauties,
festoons of holly aDd emilaz, Mrs. Wat
son of Friend, Nebr., assisted by Mes
dames Dorgan, Stoney, Curtis and
Crancer, served refreshments. In the
