The engagement of Miss Mary R. Campbell of this city to Dr. David R. Major of Columbia University has been announced. One of the prettiest receptions of the season was given Thursday afternoon from three to si: at the home of Mrs. Rosa Funke in honor of Mrs. E. K Har ris. Those who received were Mes dames Funke, Mansfield, Harris, Howe and Cowdery. The reception room was in green and white. Graceful palms and large white chrysanthemume were in abundance. The walls were festoon ed in smilax. The hall was alEO in green and white, a large bank of palms con cealing the orchestra. The drawing room was in green and yellow. At a table draped in evergreen and covered with roses, Mrs. George Woods served ice assisted by Mrs. Thomas. Mes dames Carl Funke and Ladd served coffee. Mrs. Ewing presented each one of the guests with a large chrysanthe mum as a souvenir. In the dining room, made beautiful with American Beauties, festoons of holly aDd emilaz, Mrs. Wat son of Friend, Nebr., assisted by Mes dames Dorgan, Stoney, Curtis and Crancer, served refreshments.
