T(n first public recital of the University
conservatory of music will be held in the
chapel next Tuesday evening.
Dr. and Mrs. Righter were at home to a
number of friends on Wednesday evening.
Thursday Misses Helen and Lydia Mul
len gavo an informal card party at their
homo on X and Thirteenth streets. The
evening was pleasantly spent by the follow
ing: Mrs. Schrool of Decatur, III.; Misses
Margaret Baird, Xan Lillibridgo and Hallie
Hooper; Messrs. Fritz Westermann, Max
Westermann, Fred Houtz, "Newberry; Profs.
Owens and Taylor.
The chrysanthemum show opened Wed
nesday in the Halter block under the aus
pices of the Lincoln Chrysanthemum so
ciety. The display was beautiful and the
largest ever made in the state. The walls
were banked with flowers. In the centre
there were two large tables and one large
circular stand filled with beautiful plants.
Ever' professional florist iii the city and
nnmerous amateurs had an exhibit of
plants or cut flowers.
The following young friends of Miss Sue
Bartrum tendered her a jolly surprise on
Friday eveniug. With music, dancing,
games and delicious refreshments
the evening passed so quickly 'that the
young people hardly realized that it was
time to bid their hostess good night. The

The Patriarchs will have a dance at the Lansing, Wednesday
evening, November 23. '
The Empire club will give a dance at tne Lansing tonight.
The Round Table met Monday evening at the residence of Mr. S.
H. Burntiam. '

A charitv party will be given in the
Hotel Kimball. 1516 O street, Monday
evening November 20, by a committee of
ladies consisting of Mrs. A, E. Kennard,
Mrs. A. G. Billmeyer, Mrs. W.J. Turner, Mrs.
W. A. Preston, Mrs. O. M. Thompson and
Mrs. R. M. Turner.

To introduce to society Miss Crounse,
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Hitchcock gave an "At
Homo" yesterday afternoon.
Last Saturday evening Miss Helen Smith
entertained a few friends very informally
for Miss Doak.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Ford gave a very
jolly bowling party for Miss Chase on
Thursday evening.
Mn. Osc?r Funke is spending a few days
with her mother, Mrs. nail.
Mfs. J. C. Wilson, of New York, is the
guest- of Mr. Robert W. Patrick," at Happy
Hollow.
Miss McClelland invited a few friends in
to drink tea on Thursday.
In honor of Mrs. Oscar Funke of Lincoln
and Miss Gertrude Ring wait, Mr. and Mrs.
Theodore Ringwalt will be at homo to their
many friends this afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Harbach are home from the
east.
So far this season luncheons seem to be
the most popular way of entertaining. On
Thursday the Debutante Cooking club gave
a very jolly one at tho residence of Miss
Webster. Friday Mrs. H. H. Benham of
Fort Omaha entertained in that manner
also the Misses Hamilton for Miss Doak;
Miss Webster's guest. On Monday next
Miss Dewey will give a luncheon for forty
at the Paxton hotel, and the following
Friday Miss Brown gives one in honor of
Miss Buck.
