By CHARLES D. MICHAELS.
Omaha ta Leva H lro.
Chicago, Feb. 6, Increased ipecu
lathe buying of all grains, combined
with heavy short covering, more than
off f t a stow demand for cah wheal
and hedging tales of corn. All grains
advanced Jo a new high on the pres
ent upturn and closed about the top.
with net gains of 2 1-2G.J l-2c on
wheat, 2 l-(?.2 I-2c on corn, 7-801;
1 3 8c on oats and 2 3-4(Jc higher
on rye.
The same interests that have been
free buyers of wheat of late were
active on that aide today. While
there was very heavy profit-taking
at times, a new set of bulls quickly
took the offerings of those who sold
out. Speculative interest is rapidly
increasing and sentiment is decidedly
bullish.
Foreign markets continue to ad
vance rapidly with Liverpool up
2 3-4d for the day. Buenos Aires,
after opening 1 Mc higher, closed 6c
up, the word being received long
alter the close at Chicago, In conse
quence the trade generally looked for
a sharp advance at the opening to
morrow. Decline Ignored.
A decline of 26o in spot premiums at
Chicago wna Ignored. Tha traders were
aunirmed at lh decrease of 1.691,oO
bushels In the visible supply, and many
had anticipated sn Incrvaae. Pry weather
oontinuea In th southwest snd there was
aoma talk of a private crop report lo b
given to tha trade shortly that would ;
ne vary nuinan. Lrficai mining aaiea wars
4,000 bushels.wlth receluta 76 cars.
A big market was on In corn with
heavy short covering from atart to fin
ish, as well at Increased speculative buy
ing. Country offerings wars much larger,
due to the sdvanw, but tha hedging
aales were quickly absorbed and the fin
ish wa at the top with Hay showing
the most strength. The falling off In
the seaboard demand in the west and
the Increase of 4.049,000 bushels In the
.visible had no effect other than to cause
a fractional decline at one time.
. Oats Market Dull.
At tht seaboard sales were 500,000
bushels corn, and local handlers sold
110,000 bushels. Basis In the sample
market was easy a compared with May
No. 2 grades 6c under tbs future. Re
ceipts 1,089 cars. ,
Oata were rather rull and while higher
In sympathy with eorn, met considerable
resistance from longs and ths net gains
were small. There was some selling of
May and buying of duly by spreadera
Shipping demand was rather slow, .with
sale ot 205,000 busbeis. Receipts 203
cars. . ;
Lxporters were after rye in the west
and took 25,000 ' bushels here on the
bants of 8o over May. track Baltimore.
Futures advanced In sympathy with other
