I took Lillian's cue quickly, She
had given mc the opportunity for
which I had wished in asking me so
abruptly where my sewing machine
was.
"Oh!" I said Contritely. "I forgot
io have Jim bring it over. But it is
in good condition, for I looked it
over this morning."
This last statement was the truth,
for I had carefully inspected the ma
chine "What's the use of bringing ii
over?" Lillian N asked nonchalantly.
" The only thing I'm good for is ruli

is the white-haired fairy when it

gan to wind a bobbin from a spool
of rose-colored silk.
Work Laid Out.
"If you'll look over those things
on the bed and tell me what to do
first," she said, "I can get some of
this Out of the way. And now as to
the trunk do you care if I put th
things (jack into it as I go throng

you did, but at least I can get them
out of the wav so you can lock the
trunk.

"I know I'm going to frighten yon
out of seven years' growth," she

baste anything that is to go on a

I repressed the protest which rose
to my lips. I am a good needle
woman, though a fussy one, but
