Colo., shared honors at 3 beautiful
tea given by Mrs. George Van
Brunt and Mrs. Charles Hannan, jr.,
last Monday at the Van Brunt home
on South Eeighth street.
About 25 guests were present,
and the attractively decorated din-
ins- table was presided over by Mes-
i dames Charles Hannan, sr.;3nd B,
M. Sarcent.
These hostesses have also planned
another tea to be given in the very
near future.
' Theater Party.
The members of the Porcupine
club invited the ladies as their
guests at the Brandeis Theater last
Mondav evening. Following the
opening performance of Chu Chin
x Chow they had supper and danced
at the Athletic club.

visiting at the Keeline home.
Mrs. Donald Annis of Fort Dodge,
la., and Mrs. Charles S. Hutchin
son of Des Moines, la., will be here
for the pre-nuptials, and also to plan
to entertain Miss McAtee.

Elizabeth Cjuinn, Rodna Hughes and
Claire Mclnnerney.
Mrs. Wadsworth Entertained.
In honor of Mrs. Paul Wadsworth
of Moline 111., Mrs. George Wick
ham invited eight guests to luncheon
yesterday, and the afternoon was
spent with bridge.
Mrs. Eldred Hart also entertained
informally at luncheon for Mrs.
Wadsworth on Thursday.
D. A. R. Meeting:.
The D. A. R. met with Mrs. Wil
liam Coppock Thursday afternoon
and a" very interesting talk dealing
with the menace of bolshevism was
given by Emmet Tinley.
At the next meeting Mrs. John
Calvin will discuss the Irish ques
tion. Club Guests.
Mrs. Paul Wadsworth of Moliile,
Ilhfc and Mrs. J. A. Clark of this
city were guests of Mrs. W. A. Cut
ler Friday afternoon when she en
tertained Jhe new bridge club.

Folsom Everest, who was operat
ed upon recently, was able to return
to his home last week.
George G. Hughes has gone to
Sac City, la., where he will be in
the internal revenue office.

' v Miss Lillian Price, who came
from Chicago to spend the holidays

Paul Burke of Dubuque, la.,, who
spent the holidays, with the W. S.
Keeline family, returned last Sun-,
day to his home. Mrs. Burke will
remain here for another week or
so.

Visitor
Mrs. Robert Daniels of Greeley,
Colo., who came with her husband to
spend the holidays in Council Bluffs
and Omaha, has been honor guest at
numerous affairs. Before her mar
riage Mrs. Daniels was Miss Adele
Davis of Omaha.

Dr. Hartley Burr Alexander, Uni
versity of Nebraska, Lincoln, will
speak in Omaha under auspices of
the Omaha School Forum on Mon
days, beginning January 17, dupli
cate lectures at 4 and 8 o'clock, in
the council chamber of the city
hall." Fifteen lectures under the
subject, ."Democratic Ideals!, will
comprise the course.
Dr. Alexander is professor of
philosophy at the state university
and is a writer and lecturer of note.
He has been strongly identified in
Lincoln with the pageants presented
at the university during recent years.
He has written 'five of these, among
which was "The Gate City" devoted
to the city of Omaha. A delegation
from this city witnessed its presenta
tion on the colleg campus in 1916.
The more fashionable women in
Paris are now wearing rainbow
s'ockings.

for Mrs. Robert Daniels of Greeley,
Lolo., was the luncheon at the home
of Mrs. Dillon Ross on Tuesday,
covers being placed for 12 guests.
On Friday Mrs. Daniels was hon
ored at a very pretty tea when Mrs.
Carlton Woodward was hostess.
Miss Florence Reed of Kansas City,
another charming Council Bluffs
visitor, was also present.
Several other smaller affairs and
family dinners have been given for
Mr. and Mrs. Daniels during their
stay tn the city.

Glee Club Presents

Singers
The Boys' and Girls' Glee club of
Central High school will present the
Hamline University Glee club of St.
Paul, Minn., in a concert January
11 at 8 p. m. at the Central High
school auditorium.
The object of the concert, accord
ing to Carol M. Pitts, director of
music at the school, is to create
love for good music in the school
The St. Paul Pioneer Press Sun
day, November 28 last, said of this
musical organization: '
"For the last 36 years the Ham
line University club has made an
annual concert tour in the fall, and
it has been long considered one of
the best amateur musical organiza
tions iu the northwest. The -club this
veaV is comnosed of 17 voices, in
cluding Prof. John A. Jaeger, who
has directed the Hamline songsters
for seven vears.
"As the majority of the members
of the club have sung together for
the last year or more, their director
announces that the ensemble sinking
will be of a very high order. The
same quartet that was identified with
the club last year will again be heard
with but one change, Lorille Boylem.

"The Hamlinites have a plentiful
supply of soloist material, which
should do much to make their enter
tainment pleasing. Lloyd Sundin,
baritone, is the soloist in the First
Baptist church choir, Minneapolis.
Fri'd Fraukson, tenor soloist and
reader, was the first tenor iuMhe Chi
cago preachers' quartet in 1919. At
the close of its season's tour the
quartet sang for scTtal phonograph
records.
"Malcolm Farley, flute soloist, will
accompany the singers on their tour.
Mr. Farley played flute at the
Champs Elysee theater, Paris, dur
ing the presentation of the musical
comedy, "Let's Go," before Premier
Clemcnceau and General Pershing."
