AVe stfmenttrn What's What By HELEN DECIE The habit of contradicting is one of the most positive signs of ill breeding, since the earliest lessons in deportment tend to suppress this disagreeable fault before it becomes the proverbial second nature. No matter how well-dressed the contra dictor may be, no matter how cleverly he or she may. assume the other tones of good breeding, the false note of contradiction betrays the vulgarian at once. It is espec ially advertised when, as sA often happens, the person contradicted is older or better informed than the rude aggressor. A well-bred man or woman knows how to parry .rudeness without giv ing undue offense. In a case of con tradiction, the tactful person pre serving a cool courtesy, makes some such comment as, "Well, one of us must be mistaken," and promptly changes the subject Personal - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Gerber Friday at the Stewart hospital. , .
