STATE COLLEGE
BOOM PERSHING
Dean Issues Statement That
Pupils Like to Recall That.
General Was One of (
Them.
Lincoln, Neb., March 26. (Spe
cial) W. G. Hastings, dean of the
law college of the University of Ne
braska, today declared in favor of
General Pershing for president of
the United States in a statement to
Mark W. Woods, chairman of the
Pershing organization.
"The lads of the law college like
to recall that General Pershing was
once of their number," said Dean
Hastings, "and it will be difficult to
lead them to support any other can
didate of any party as long as Gen
eral Pershing is iff the field."
Following is Dean Hasting's state
ment to Mark Woods:
"Some enthusiastic students in the
University of Nebraska law college
desire an official reminder to be sent
out at this time 'that General Per
sWing in 1893 received from our law
college a Bachelor of Laws degree
while he was acting also as military
instructor and commandant. The
lads like to recall that lje was once
of their number, and it will be dif
ficult to lead them to support any
other candidate of any party as long
as General Pershing is in the field.
"Of course we have followed with
great pride his successful career and
would feel an assurance in the event
of his election to the presidency of
the United States that he would use
the same sound judgment and devo
tion to the country which he ex
hibited in organizing and employing
its military resources in the im
mortal campaign of 1918.
"I take pleasure in sending this
statement from the students of the
lav? college and myself."
