Lose Morning Conteit, Two to One, and Win Second From Lincoln bj Score of Six to Five. Omaha dropped the opening game of the double Fourth of July bill to Lincoln yesterday morning ty the score of 2 to 1. The second went Omaha s way, 6 to 5. V.Lincoln took the lead in the fourth hg of the first game when T. th walked and was sacrificed to nd by Bayless. The Rourkes copped the last game of the series in the afternoon, when they, trimmed the Links, 6 to 5. Omaha came back with one score on Shaw's triple and Bradley's out. Omaha scored again in the fifth, when with two down Cooney singled, Smith walked and Krug sent a sizzler.down third for a safety. v . The Ducklings annexed two in the sixth on singles by Bayless, Lober and Schmandt and a, double steal. Singles by Bradley and Schick and Men's double netted Omaha two in their half of the sixth. Omaha came up from behind in the seventh and grabbed the fray with Smith's single, Krug's sacrifice bunt and Ben Shaw's home run , through third. His hit Lounded at Carlisle's dome and the lattc cht-'i it to the fence. On the throw in it took a bad bounce just before it got to Smith and Shaw reached home with the winning tally. Detroit, July 4. Chicago won both holiday games from Detroit today each 4 to 3. A two run lead taken by Detroit in the third inning of the afternoon game when the locals scored three runs, only lasted until the fourth when Chicago tied it. In the niornine same Cicotte was in trouble in the first inning, but pitched finely in the pinches. Two singles and a wjld throw scored the winning run in ine sixin. War has forced the Three-I league, one of the oldest minor leagues of the country, to close its parks. The organization will sus pend its season next Sunday, Presi dent A. R. Tearney announced today. The eight clubs have lost approxi mately $25,000 since the start of the season eight weeks ago. Although the league faced almost unprecedented weather conditions early in th season, President Tear ney said subscriptions of the Liberty loan and Red Cross and the general lack of interest in the game, owing to the war, contributed largely to the league's failure. , "1 have found that base ball has no business trying to survive in the smaller cities with the " country at war," said President Tearney tonight.
