Pattl .Thgr was the usual moderate
Friday run of cattle today, soventy-four
loads, about 1,100 head, and the offerings
included comparatively few very desirable
beef a Leers. Demand from packers was
fairly active and anything at all attractive
found a ready sale at steady to strong
prices, the medium and common staff as
usual being rather slow sale at uncertain
figures. Call for cows and heifers was
broad and prices "firmly held for useful of

a week ago, the general market for kilting
stock is just a shade higher and the un

In Blockers and feeders business was in

eastern railroads have refused to take out
stock on account of thes hortage or stock

are selling rapidly at very strong prices,
but on the general run of stock cattle and

Hogs The hog supply, while not as large
i on the three previous days, was liberal
for a Friday, around 209 cars, or 16,600
head, being reported In. The total for the
five days Is 105,446 head, lacking Just 1.000
of breaking the record for a week's re-
Ipts.
Yesterday's market was more active
around midday than at any other time, but
before a clearance was made buyers quit.
and thirty-five or forly cars had to be car
ried over for today. The car shortage was
relieved lo a small extent, shippers loading
out all of their email buy, and Morris ft
Co. getting cars for most of the hogs they
bought yesterday, as well as those they
had from the day before.
other markets reported generally strong
er prices and sellers who considered yester
day's decline lo a large extent unwar
ranted were out for higher prices today.
Shippers were inclined to go a little slow,
though they bought some hogs on early
rounds that were aa much as 10c higher.
Packers came out with offers that were
strong to 6c higher, but sellnrs were pricing
their hogs at greater upturns than that
and little sold until well along In the
morning.
Some huHness was done before 11 o'clock
on a 6c hi a her basis, hut most sellers hung
on and In (he end they carried their point,
the bulk of the offerings selling 10016c
higher than yesterday. Iater rounds were
active, and for the first time since Mon
day, a pretty decent clearance had been
made by mid -day. Of counts there were
some underweights and real plain kinds
that had a slow time of It, but anything at
all deulrablo moved readily once the mar
ket got started.
The general market was 6010c higher,
and a big end of the sales looked 10016c
blgber. Most of the offerings moved at
$10.00010.40, with a sprinkling of the least
dMlrable kinds "under the hill," and a
fair showing of the best butchers and
heavies on up to (10.60. the top.
