Omaha Girl and Her
Friends Talk Hubby
Into Entering Movies
Gladden James, who appears at the
Gayety today, ' is the husband of
Frieda Lang, a former Omaha girl.
According to his own storv. he was
practically talked into the movies by
ins wite and tier friends, ut course,
Gladden is first of all good looking.
"My wife and friends," says Mr.
James,, "caused me to get into the
movies because I Dhotouraohed well.
Unknown to me, one of my friends
sent one of my photographs to a
Worm director whomune knew. It
happened that this director was in
need of a man of my type and judged
from . my photographs that 1 would
screen well. He sent me a proposi
tion. . I was dumbfounded and in
clined to turn it down,, but my wife
ana ner mends got busy and talked
me into it. and here I am. I now
have, a three-year contract with the
Worm at a satisfying figure.
"People generally think that movie
acting is. a snap, but they are mis
taken. It is the hardest kind of
early and late labor, but it is interest
ing enough to make up for the stren
uous action We go through. ;
"You will like 'What Happened in
11,' which appears in your city today
at the Gayety. It is the kind of pic
ture which in my opinion should be
a wonderful success. My wife and I
send our best regards ' to Omaha
friends. We will be through Omaha
in a short time and will take pleasure
in renewing our old acquaintances,"
"SPELL 0FTHE"YUK0N"
AT THEMUSE TODAY
An unusually good program is
promised at the Muse for this week.
Edmund Breese, who is probably best
remembered for his work in "The
Lion and the Mouse," carries the
stellar role in today's presentation,
"The Spell of the Yukon," which
fiicturizes the wild and untrammeled
ife of Alaska with 'the false and pre
tentious social set of New York.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
will be presented "Dollars and the
Woman, a six-reel production taken
from Albert Payson Terhune's great
ttory, "Dollars and Cents," in which
Ethel Clayton and Tom Moore share
the leading roles. One reel of pictures
taken at Valley, Neb., of the High
school camp on visitors' day will
also be shown.
The sixth episode of "Gloria's Ro
mance," with "The Discard," will be
the program for Friday and Saturday,
GOOD ANIMAL PICTURE
AT THE ORPHEUM TODAY
An exceptionally good two-reel an
imal picture will be shown at the Or
pheum today. The wonderful scen
ery and almost human intelligence of
the trained animals makes it an inter
: esting spectacle. A Thanhouser
comedy entitled "For Uncle Sam's
Navy" will be included in the pro
gram. FARNAM OFFERS ALICE
. BRADY IN "LA BOHEME"
Alice ' Brady will be teen at the
Farnam theater today as "Mimi" in
the well-known Bohemian play "La
vie de Boheme." It is a story of the
passionate, loving, carefree people of

MOLLIE KING AT THE
OMAHA THEATER TODAY
The subtle call of fascination is
often mistaken for the voice of love,
but when the real call comes, even
though it be late and seemingly hope
less, we cannot mistake it. The
truth of this is forcibly brought out
in "Fate's Boomerang, the play at
the Omaha theater today and Mon
day. An unusually good comedy en
titled "Wanted a Husband" will also
be shown. ' -
