The receipts of wheat were prvtty Inlr
todayi but the corn and oats receipts
were very light.
The demand for wheat was fairly active
ami the sales of this cereal were pretty
good.
The wheat market was rather irregular,
some grades selling lo lower, while a few
cars of the poorer grades of wheat sold
about 2c higher.
The sales of corn were exceptionally
light, due to the light receipts. The de
mand was good and the market was
quoted lo higher.
The demand for oats was fair, but there
were very few oars reported sold. Oats
was quoted at practically unchanged
prices.
Rye sold unchanged to He higher, while
barley was quoted nominally unchanged.
Clearances were: Wheat and flour,
equal to K.0O0 bu.; oorn, 20.000 bu.; oala,
3,000 bu.
Uverpool close: Wheat, Hd lower to
Hd higher; corn, unchanged to Hd higher.
Primary wheat receipts were ,4.t00 bu.
and shipments 1,641,000 bu.. against re
ceipts of 1,371,000 bu. and shipments of
&W. nut bu. last year.
Primary corn receipts were $14,000 bu.

by the absence of any great accumulation
of stock there or elsewhere. The mar

down; oat, off 4ta. and provisions
showing losses of lOo to 6Ko.
Bentlment regarding wheat apneared to
be almost evenly divided. At first the
selling side of the market was In favor
on account of a continuance of heavy
arrivals at Winnipeg, Minneapolis and
Duluth, with prospects Uiat the big
movement tn that section would hold out

the view waa popular that the olethora
of supplies in the northwest bad already

after a forenoon exhibition of strength.

coffee offerings, and after opening un

and with local packers talking sharply
lower. hlppers did not do very much
this morning. The few hogs they bought
on early rounds looked mostly a dime
lower, but their purchase ' were not
heavy enough to make any difference In
the general market Tops reached 38 40,
a nickel below th beat price paid M011-
nae.kar nicked ud a few hoga early
that were about lOo lower, but most
buyer made their first bid on a fully
lb?120o lower basis, and as seller would
not take off that much without putting
un a flsht the middle of the forenoon
found nearly everything atlll In first
hand.
Instead cf showing any trngth, how
ever, price eased off a th forenoon
advanced, and after a few loads had
been sold at fully lfio lower prices, bids
dropped to a 80o lower basis. Here seller
made a tand for a return to th early
level, but packer repeated their former
fterformance of buying a few and then
owerlng bids and this time price lit In
the quarter lower notch. At a late hour
there were twenty-five or mor loads still
unsold. Th market had died out almost
entirely, and sellers who could get bids
thought they were fully 26c off, and some
quoted late offer aa much aa 80o down.

unsatisfactory seen at thla point for
many week, and tha faot that It was
not entirely unexpected did not make

ceded that the market ha been very top

drop. The future course of the market
depends entirely on receipts, but every
I one admits that light runs will only post

mallest Tuesday supplies In several
weeks. The total for the two days of

far this week is smaller than for any
similar period since late In Auguat.
Fat lambs were not overly active sell
er this morning, but the trsde got under
way In fair sesson on about a steady
basis. Among th first transactions wer

On the whole the market was fairly

lished, and all the fat lambs offered had
been cleared long before noon. Values
showed no change from early levels, and

Feeder demand was broad enough to
take care of all the available supply and
then some. Prices showed little or no

out having the fat end, which brought
