Woman Is Buying

Car Purchasing
'The effect of the motor car on hu
manity has never been so clearly demon
strated as during the last year. A
famous eastern psychologist cornea out
flatly and ptntea that nothing short of
an actual revolution Is being worked by
gasoline," declared W. R Foehler, dis
tributer for the Pathfinder. "War, peace,
and our dally living can never be the
same again," says the professor. "The
motor car has ohanged It ail." And the
professor Isn't very far from right, at

"People are not like they nee were.
We can all recall how women used to
look with horror on the thought of
getting all tanned up. Women these
days drive motor cars and get red blood
In their veins.
"If It were to be possible to determine
what percentage of migration among peo
ple la impelled by female influence, you
would see lnstnntly that the desire to
get about, to change surroundings Is
largely Inspired by the Immortal 'Her.'
"Wormn insisted on getting about. This
created the demand. The demand was
met by the motor car.
"She Inspired its creation, just as she
Inspires the creation of everything In the
world of constructive nature. .
Woman made motor can quiet
"Woman made men build better roads
for motor cars to run over. Woman In
sisted on getting rid of the inconven
ience In motor cars she brought about,
with her subtle Influence, spiral gears
and soft wieldly springs.
"Men do not even buy motor cars.
They only think they do. Women let
them fuse around and brag about how
much they know about valve clearance
and gear ratio, and then the woman
nicks the car."

ne the Overland announced a
four-cylinder tourtng car to sell for 1.60.
The Influx of orders covering this model
alone has been the greatest in the his
tory of the Toledo concern.

With Him announcement of the "fix" at
$1,14."., the Overland haa completed a trio
o: models which to all Intents and pur- '
poses practically blankets the moderate
price market. The latest addition to the ,
Over. and family Is known as Model M.
In consideration of the price, probably
the moat conspicuous advantage of this
new car la Its slse. I
The remarkably low price for so big a
seven-passenger touring car Is the direct
result of the quantity production methods
now In vogue at the Overland factory.
The extensive manufacturing facilities
ot the Toledo concern enable them to
put the maximum of quality and comfort
In their product at a minimum price
This applies particular to- the Hlx, as
this model Is produced In the single body
design only, which allows the company
an extraordinary opportunity for com'
plete standardisation.
The exterior of the car denotes charac
ter and stability in every line, The long,
sweeping curves of the streamline body
give It grace and peine that Is usually
found In cars selling at a much higher
price. From the radiator to the full
belled tonneau back there la not a break
In the design to mar the natural contour
of the body.

Auto Engine Starts
by Wireless Spark
For the first time In the history of the
automobile It has been demonstrated that
a car can be stsrted from a distance by
means of the wireless telegraph.
This was proved at the Indiana State
fair, where the motor ot a model S3 Over
land was started every five minutes by
a wireless spark from the Overland head
quarters In Indianapolis, five miles away.
A complete wireless outfit consisting
of motor generator, transformers, relays
and other paraphernalia was Installed in
the show windows of the city sales
rooms. This waa connected with an
aerial on the roof of the building and by
stepping the alternating current up from
110 volts to 16,000 volts the apparatus made
It possible to send messages too miles.
The Overland car on exhibition at the
fair grounds waa fitted up with a receiv
ing apparatus and the necessary auto
matla switches and relays for throwing
on and off the elect rlo current of the
starter and magneto. An automatic
switch was regulated so as to allow the
car to run for forty-five seconds, after
which the magneto was cut off. The
operation of atartlng the car was re
peated at flve-mlnute intervals.

Cadillac Eight-Cylinder Limousines
Beautiful lines, superb finish, rich upholstery fabrics In wide variety,
perfect appointments, unusual comfortableness everything that makes
for your enjoyment of a' fine enclosed car has been thought out and
worked into the designing of the new Cadillac Limousines. While exqui
site in artistic detail, they are also of the most substantial and enduring
construction, in harmony with Cadillac ideals of engineering.
But the genuine comfort you enjoy in a Cadillac Limousine is not wholly
a matter of good coach work.- It is the performance of the wonderful
Cadillac chassis which gives our enclosed cars their chief distinction.
Their utter quietness is amazing. You do not hear the dull rumble and
grinding which you have supposed is associated with every enclosed
car. The car just seems to be nying through the air so effortless and
smooth is its movement, so easily is it handled.
As for dependability, the Eight-Cylinder Cadillac you buy today has
over 14,000 twin brothers, who have so thoroughly proved their de
pendability that practically the whole industry has started imitating
them. If the Cadillac "Eight" is good enough to compel such widespread
imitation by other manufacturers, it is certainly a safe car to buy.
