Fifty dealers And peddlers of Ice In
Omaha nearly nil of whom secure their
supplies from the Omaha Ice and Cold
Storage company or from the the
People's Ice company, upheld prices of M
cent per 100 pounds to residences And,

The bis companies charged Peddlers a

And JIM for natural Ice, the witness

sold Ice for 10 cents per 1W pounds under
the fixed rate the Omaha Ice and Cold
Floras company conspired with Gunder
son Bros., who had agreed to sell him
1,700 pounds of Ice to break the contract
of purchase.
Ho testified that prices of Ice vrero the
Ps me over the entire city.
Margolin declared his experience hart
been that Ice in an Icehouso would,
shrink 10 per cent during the summer.
The defendants, however, were of the
opinion that 33V4 per cent was more nearly
the correct figure as to shrinkage.
Objections to questions designed to re
veal the cost of making artificial Ice, the
Average cost delivered to residences and
ths profits thus made were sustained by
the court, Margolin said ice packed in
Icehouses had cost him Mi and 00 cents
per ton.

The ordlnanoe provides that applicants
who receive licensos shall pay Jl for the
ram and each of the two members of
the board who Are not city officials shall
receive 10 per cent of the rcoclpto.
An examining board, consisting of the
city clerk and two city commissioners,
is n6w in existence, but, Recording tft
Hummel, they aro not doing tho work ns
thoroughly as he would llko to have
it done.
WEATHER BUREAU WILL
REPORT WEATHER EFFECT
To extend the usefulness of tho weather
bureau of the Department of Agriculture,
a summary of the erfect of tho weather
ef the preceding jtveek on the wheat and
corn crops will be Issued each Tuesday.
The corn and wheat bulletin, aa It Is
known among grain men, has kept a
close account of the condition of grow
ing crops, but the weekly summary of
the effect of the wcatlior on crops is a
new feature of the service.
The entire corn and wheat belt will be
covered In the weekly summary, and
promises to be of great value to grain
dsstters and commission men, as well as
ethers interested in crop conditions.

founding of St. Ilerchman's academy,
Twenty-seventh and Bt, Mary's avenue,
by tho Sisters of Mercy, all the members
of the senior and Junior classes aro stu
dents who have received their entire edu
cation In the institution. The cists day
exercises beJng held are thereforo of an
extraordinary nature and the sisters
devoted the whole day to a special
program of exercises In celebration of the
event This Is the first affair of the
hind ever given in honor of tho graduates
by the faculty of the academy.
Solemn high mass at 9 yesterday
morning was celebrated In the chapel by
nev. J. F. McCarthy, pastor of St. Peter's
church. This was followed with a ser
