The wheat market displayed some
strength on buying by tho Armour Grain
company antl others during yesterday
moraine, but the offerings wcro nt all
times liberal, and when corn turned wak
and declined It putted tho wheat market
down with it. Tho purchases of tho
Armour people of possibly 500,000 bushels
or more was against tho loss of wheat by
flro in tho Minnesota annex elevator on
Saturday night. There was enough wheat

tho morning to' show that those markets
wcro top heavy at that time, and when
allies declined tho selling continued, as
holders or those who wcro putting out
short lines or hedges, gnvo the matter

Mr. Glessncr, who lias returned from a
trip throughout tho southwest and who

said yesterday that fields are well cov

els In the world's stock of wheat could
not but encourage the bulls, especially as
tho reduction at the corresponding time
a ycitr ago amounted only to 1,146.000
bushels. Moreover', tho curtailment last
week was relatively small as well
1.426,000 bushels. Rumors of export sales
for shipment by way of the gulf added
to tho stimulating influence on the bull
side. The government snow map was
also a disappointment for the boars
Kansas, southern Illinois and south and
central Indiana being unprotected and
the covering In Nebraska very light.
Despite a good deal of active commission
buying, it was not until the last half
of the session that the bulls got tho
upper hand in tho wheat pit. During the
earlier hours, a cable dispatch told of a
pauso in the European demand and the
bears were favored by warmer weather

ceivers agreeing that country offerings

first because of film weather for shelling

Firmness In provisions came chiefly
from the fact that hog receipts fell
