Arrangements are soon to be com pleted for a German day celebration, October 2, as a part of the Ak-Sar-Ben festivities. It has been authoritatively announced that the Germans have se lected Omaha as the place of thts year's celebration, and the local committee of the Nebraska' German-American alliance Is working with J. D. Weaver, secretary of the knights, to plan a big parade, in which 10,000 of them will participate that day. German day Is celebrated by United States citizens of German birth, or ex traction, In commemoration of the land ing of the first German colonists, led by Daniel Pestorius, October 6, 16S3. "Tho day has been celebrated by the German-American alliance all over tho country very sucessfully," said Vol I. Peter, "and the local branches of the alliance have for years been endeavoring to carry out this celebration In Omaha. Inasmuch as the harvest festival of tha Ak-Sar-Ben will be held at that time, we thought it well to celebrate German day in connection with the annual festi val, thereby assuring a larger attendance of Germans of the state and also of western Iowa. "We expect to havo about 25,000 Ger mans in the city for three day about that time. We will build floats and have them in an afternoon parade In connec tion with one of the Ak-Sar-Ben parade.
