during this period feared that their saber

same fund. This Is In addition to About
$1,500 given by tho officers of ths ,'om-
pany and $1,000 raised among the em
ployee for the rellcr or the employes of
the company who suffered losses 'rom
the tornado.
This will pay for about one-half the
losses suffered by the employes if the
company, the total amount raised b'nmr
$3,000. Tho company relief committee
figures the losses to employes to bo
about $16,000.
P. GUTH TO BE AWARDED
ENGINE HOUSE CONTRACT
J, P. Guth will bo awarded the contract
for constructing a new engine house for
the city Ore department at Sixteenth and
Iiard streets when tho council convenes
Tuesday. Tho cost of the new house will
be $35,000.
Negotiations are under way between
tho city and the Byron Reed Real Estate
company to purchase a lot at Twelfth
and Dodge, southwest corner, for llt.W)
for a new engine house site.
City Commissioner Wlthnell will rec
ommend the purchase. If the deal tees
through a new engine hoUBe will be built
there, thn house at 211 South. Tenth street
being abandoned and the lot sold to a
company which haa offered $5,600 for It,
with permission for the city to use the
house until October without rent, the rent
after October to bo $50 a month.
