grain is unable to' flguie out ns to the
probable pjdclng of this big line of
breadstuff. There Is no demand at the

I'nlted Status or foreign countries, which
places the holders of this grain nt the

something unforeseen to materialise to
change the entire situation. A crop scare
In tho winter wheat belt would prove the
most valuable nssct for the holders of
cash grain 'throughout the eounto. aa It
would not only drlvo millers of the United
States Into tho market as heavy buyers,
but It would doubtless develop a demand
from importing countries of the world
nnd a large part of the surplus would
hid new resting spots In tills country as
well an In foreign markets.
There Is little fear from the political
situation abroad, although there are n
few possibilities of a chupge for the
worse, which would art as ft bullish
factor In the markets of the old world.
There has been some talk of cash wheat
of this country being purchased by men
with almost unlimited meanB, with tho
Intention of holding this grain for a
profit. Theso rumors have been current
for some time, but they have again dis
appeared without tiny pronounced uctlou

Minneapolis and Dulutli Is pretty well
concentrated In tho matter of holders und
the same may be said of stocks at Chi

The situation In corn remains without

Owing to a small movement and light

Features of the Trading; and Closing
Prices on Hoard of Trnde.
CHICAGO. Feb. 13.-Cuts In the prlco of
flour acted a the last straw today In
breaking tho cost of wheat. The grain,
though steady at the close, ranged from
Ho to P,4c down. Corn finished 14u to
lViifflHc of: oats cheaper, 4c to sctiic
and privlslons less expensive by 15o to
45474c.
Bvldence of tho overloaded condition of
tho flour trade formed the principal
cnuse of a drop of 44c In No. 2 red wheat
at Toledo. For a similar reason cash
wheat elsewhere, too, headed down
grade, although not to such a decldol ex
tent. The mllln were said to have been
turning out Hour at practically their .full
capacity, but hud fulled to find buyers
of late. Offerings, 30c to '60c a barrel un
der public quotations, It wns declared
wcro now tho rule.
Wheat here sagged from tho start,
and closed at nearly the lowest figures
of the day. Rains throughout India, and
big shipments from Argentina with mild
weather and liberal primary arrivals In
tho United States, all had nil effect In
turning sentiment to the "Bear side.
Notwithstanding generous export busl
ne6s at tho seaboard, corn turned weak,
chiefly because of tho bfg receipts. Ar
gentina crop estimates wcro enlarged,
and renewed attention was given to the
domestic shortage of cattlo and hogs.
Sellers of oats were unuBUnlly aggressive.
There was u prospect thaT farm reserves
March 1 would make a remarkable bIiow
ing against tho bulls.
Provisions suffered a sharp setback In
consequence of largo sales by longs.
Heavy holdings of pork, lard and ribs
tumbled slmultivsUoUHly Into tho pit, and
found no adequate support.
