-, . , OMAHA, Dec. IS. 1M2.
..e.Mt fttvored the bear side of
Mneat this morning. This Is because of
the general belief tlxit routine statistics,
wnich will bo spread out before the spec
?i ftlv world today, will favor tho bear
f Vi Vheat ts now said to bo on de
batable pound. This condition Is caused
...i '"proved business In tho cat
article on both domestic and export ac
counts, coupled with a better flour trade
by the interior millers of thn northwest,
"s well as by the winter wheat millers
or tho southwest. Those who are malting
fales of cash wheat for shipment abroad
are doing so In a sub rosa way, although
yhen asked as to tho volume of trade
they generally mako little of It. From
the clearances of Saturday last there is a
great deal of export business being dono
In wheat. Of course, a great deal of these
clearances Is old business, but the new
business has been sandwiched In and Is
Included In the shipments from our shores.
Tho bears In wheat Beom to be losing
bcurt, as there are fewer in the trade
who carp to .put out a big short line and
stand on it, awaiting a profit. In a can
vass of the Chicago trado on Saturday at
tho close thero were less than half a
dozen big men who cared to express a
bearish opinion on this grain following
the long drawn out declines which have
been seen there the last few months. The
average speculator In. any grain believes.
In "natural reactions" without a pro
nounced causo for the same. The most
successful traders In commodities believe
Uiat a decline will run Just so far and
no further, when a reaction and advance
is certain to be Seen. There has been a
little trade In the way of 'outside specula
lation for soma time- and an Improved
volume is essential for a general
strengthening of prices. Cash wheat un
changed to Ho lower.
With an edequate supply of cars tlio
movement of corn from nearly overs state
in the corn belt would show a great in
crease. Besides tho complaints of a lack
of storage room In many of tho country
elevators along tho various lines of rail
ways In Iowa, Illinois and one or two
other states. Cash corn. lAW lowor.
Thero Is considerable congestion lu De
cember oats and tho shorts are experienc
ing some trouble in evening up their po
sition. Those who have sold this grain
for December delivery feel that there Is
a likelihood of stocks Increasing before
January 1, and in this event they will be
allowed to step down and out without
further losses. Tho country Is not selling
any oata to speak of, especially on tho
weak spots. Cash oats, unchanged to 4c
lower.
Clearances were 283,000 bushels of oats,
none of corn and wheat and flour oquul
to (6,000 bushels.
Liverpool closed UflUd lower on wheat
and Ud lower on corn.
Primary wheat receipts were 2,228,000

Wheat strength developed In spite of
belief that tho government crop report
would favor the bear side. Tho extent,
however, to which tho document would
do so was not foreseen. Lower cables
and heavy northwest Tecolpts had more
Influence In depressing the market until
the Pit began to take notice of a new
factor In tho export situation, .Liverpool
bidding for all-rail shipments from hero

being smaller than expected aided the
bulls during the final trades. The upturn
in Now York stocks counted also against
the bears at tho last.
May wheat fluctuated between 894c

I'nsettled weather ahead brought about
