superintendent of the Stat School for the

lic Ijnds and Buildings to buy ten acres
of land adjoining lh Institution, in ac
cordance with a measure isied by the
last session of the legislature. The law
makers appropriated $12, Kit) for the pur
pose but the board after Investigating the
matter decided the tract In question was
worth no more than lll.Ouo. Some mem
bers of the boaid do not favor buying
the land and say that the deal would bo
an act of wild extravagance on toe part
f the state. The two Omaha visitors as
serted while at the state house In regard
to the land that It Is worth the amount
net aside by the legislature for Us pur
pose. The board lias never laid the 111,010

and following the visit of the two Oma
