WICHITA, Kan., Aug. 3 Today1 game

by agrtement at 4:40 o'clock to let Wichita
catch a train for Denver. Topeka had one
run. one man on baee and two out In the

a creed exactly when the game started.
Wrlghfs watch also was five minutes
slower than that of a spectator with which
he had compared It before the gamo
started. at which time they were exactly

BOSTON. Aug. 3 Playing before the
largest crowd that ever saw an American
league base ball game In this city Boston
pulled Detroit's percentage still lower In
the pennant race by winning two exciting
games today, the first by a score of 2 to I
and the second by 8 to 7. The paid admis
sions amounted to 23,781, and thousands
were refused admission. On October 6, 1904.
2S.040 people paid to see Boston and New
York play a double-header, this being the
last great crowd before today. The first
game was a pitchers' battle between Wood
and Kllllon, the locals winning In the
seventh Inning on poor work by Kllllfer,
following a two-base hit. Free hitting
marked the second contest. Another double
header will he played tomorrow. The un
usual number of two-base hits made in the
games was due to the fact that the big
crowd overflowed Into the field and ac
cording to the rules, a hit into the crowd
waa good for two bases. Ordinarily many
of these hits today would have beefi easy
outs. Scfpe, first game:
