governors hope to secure the co-operation
of this road. The Northwestern rates
will apply to all branches terminating In
Omaha and the field affected covers north
ern and northeasiern Nebraska and west
ern and northwextern Iowa.
L. W. Wakeley, general passenger agent
of the Burlington, Friday night received
a telegram frirn the Chicago ofllces stating
that action on the original request of the
board of governors of the Ak-Sar-Btn,
filed last August, had been reconsidered
and that a rate of a fare a tut a half would
be granted from points In Nebraska and
from points In western Iowa. Tickets will
be sold from September 18 to October 2,
the return limit being fixed at October 6.
Great Weatera llestores Rates.
The local agent of the Groat Western
line has received offtclul authority to place
special Ak-Sar-Ben rates In effect, the
announcement of which was made first
of all the roads FYiday. The Great West
ern, through the general passenger agent
at Bt. Paul, Friday was Instrumental In
the movement looking to lower rates,
which has culminated In the general action
of all the lines so far except the Union
Pacific. Great Western rates will take
effect at a fare and a half as far as
Oelweln, 276 miles, and Mason City, '.

tember it to SO, with the limit of return

The board of governors of Ak-Sur-Ben
took the matter of rates up Friday with
J. A. Bill, general agent of the road in
this territory, who at once communicated
by long distance telephone with General

rusuited In the reconsideration of the first
rejection of the special rate and resulted

morning that the Rock Island had decided

the accustomed territory In Nebraska und
Iowa for the Ak-8ar-Ben dates and

endeavor to have the rates made general
so that Omaha would be able to. enjoy the
