park for the Plattdeutacher Vereln. a so
ciety of about 450 German cltlsens of
Omaha. The tract Is known as the old
homestead of J C. Brennan, a former con
tractor and builder of Omaha, and will
be bought by the German society from N.
P. Dodge St Co. for about $7,000.
It Is the intention of the vereln to
pend at least $00,000 In Improvements this
summer. A large assembly and dance hall
will be erected; music and amusement
pavilions will be constructed and the en
tire tract parked for the use qf the mem
bers of the organization. The park has a
froiiliige of GiO feet on Thirteenth street
and part of it extends through to Sixteenth

An unusual career waa that of Ehrhard
W. Schlrner,- who died at a local hospital
Monday aa the result of an operation, and
was buried in St. Mary Magdalene ceme
tery, South Omaha. Wedneaday. He was
born In Berlin, Germany, In 11. and
while still little more than a boy, marched
away with the great armies that fought
against France In the Franco-Prussian
war.
After the war he emigrated to America
and settled In Nebraska City, where he
practiced for several yeara aa physician.
His health broke down' and he relinquished
his professional career, took tha civil ser
vice examination and waa appointed store
keeper and Inspector In the Internal reve
nue service at Omaha. He was stationed
at the distillery.
He boarded at 601 Pierce street. So far
as known he had no relative ta Amerita.
He bad never married
