Ilnkot Selects Townsltcs.
PIERRK, B.-D., June 18. (Special.) At a
meeting of the State Lands board yester
day It was decided to offer six different
tracts In Gregory county for salo at
points where It Is probable they will bo
desired for townslte purposes. The tracts
selected for this purpose and which will
be placed on the market by the state are
northwest of section -6-70; all of section
5-96-71; northeast of section 18-90-71: all
of section 18-97-72; all of section 86-98-73;
northeast of section 16-99-73. These tracts
are strung across the county In a north
western direction from Bonesteel. Com
missioner Bach Is preparing and will send
out the notices advertising these lands for
sale and they will be offered at as early a
date as can be after the legal advertising
of sale. The, Appraisement board, which
Is composed of the stats land commissioner,
the state auditor and the superintendent
of schools of Oregory county, will meet at
tha call of the commissioner and fix a
minimum selling price at which the lands
may be disposed of.

strange And has been made here In the rear
of Chris Habeger's billiard hall and bowl
ing alley. Clarence Biggs was digging a
vault, when he unearthed aa officer's
sword, some bones and a cast Iron box,
eighteen Inches long, five Inches wlda and
five Inches deep. On breaking open the
box It was found to contain nothing but
dust-rotted papers evidently. How these
things cams there no one knows, but It
might be the grave of a Union officer who
was burled there before the settlement of
this swcUua.
