Apathy pervaded the piii of tria Foard of Trade tooay. Traders I'tid Utlla attention to anythir.g but wheat and nut muth of that inasmjcb aa fl weather baa ruled the pit for the lat refit, when prospertu of clearing skies ere reported wheat lost It strength. Oais iympaniaed somewhat, but corn a as unuer the Pan of rtianipu.atlon and head firm. At the close July wheat si 'o ,c lover, July turn Vati'.c up and July oaia c down. I'rovtslons closed 7Vc down for everything cn the liat. Late selling developed the only activity that the lit at pit experienced today. At the outset cattle acre lower. Indicating better weather in France arid England. I he aouthweat sold iitwra'ny in spile i f the fact that the country still had a nggy blanket spread over It and more rains were falling Commission houses took a Utile Bluff on the score that not since the loiter deal haa there been such ciear in dicalit i f that stork jl oid wheat are r radically exhausted. A belief then seemed o take hold of the crowd that fine weather was at hand. Private teiegTsms bjoyea bears up to this opinion and when the open elevator crowd began selling freely the crowd waa sjre a reaction had aet In. Meanwhile the wheat pit was very dull. While the selling progressed a fradual Incline endued and July, whlcn ad opened unchanged to lower at 7JSc to 7:'-e, flumped to a weak close and a77,o lower at 7l4ti?l';c. Local receipts were fc! cars o of contract grade. Min neapolis and Duluth reported 21 r cut, mak ing a total of '&& cat, attains il lai week, and 42 a year ago. i-rmary re ceipts were jk7,n"0 bushela, compared with 657,(io bushels last year. Standard rlear- E rices in wheat and flour equaled h-joll ushels The seaboard reported fifteen lads taken for export. Com waa easy and dull, even for Satur day. Wet weather all over the corn a.ates hindered movement and grading, but the lower cables and the wheat weakness off- et tht bullish factors and the pit was eft much to itself. In spite of the life ess cat j re of the pit corn held very firm. Two rumor were going the rounds rela tive to the big "dear In Julv options. One was that the Wall street crowd was shipping out cash stuff 't he oilier liuU It that J. Ogden Armour rather than the Wall street crowd was the manipulator. On these rumors the crowd fought shy of the pit, especially as there was no big Belling today. July fluctuated only He and closed at its strongest, VjiViC up at 6Ivc. Country acceptances are still small. Re ceipts were 3u cat a, but graded only M cars contract Oats were steady early, but trade was low. There was little support to the mar ket and when wheat weakened oats ft 11 off in sympathy, 'i here was a lm.e re covery late. July new sold from 4'1'ao to Bf'iC and closed easy and Vc lower at eTc. Keceipts were loo curs. frovlhii.t. were tiead with the exception of a little outside liquidation. Hogs were lightly weaker and packers tefustd to sup port after the first few minutes. This re sulted in a decided slump, but part of the loss was regained In general the mar ket was so dull that it was featureless. Prices ere weU held, but this was not because there wss any gen eral demand, but rather because there were no ottering. outside of Missouri Pacific and St. Paul the dealings were hardly more than nominal. These two stocks were lit ted a point after the ap pearance of the banc statement, but neither closed at the best. The closing was tairly steady, however, but very duil. The bank statement waa considered fa vorable and helped the market. The gain of 1.2p0,ooo in cash reserves waa larger than expected and the contraction of over U.ow.Ooo ln the loan account came ln place ot some apprehension of a further expan sion of that account. The net result as to add more than $2.0U0.oov to the surplus over the legal requirement in tbe reserves of the association banks. The buying of Missouri Taclfic and of St. Paul was of the same character as dur ing the week, and is attrlDuled to opera tions of speculative pools. Ihe coalers were neglected owing to the lack of corrobora tion of yesterday's rumors of measures tak ing which would end the strike. ihe rise of a point ln Nortolk West ern waa based upon the report that the strike of the soft coal miners In the Vir ginias has been broken. There was noth ing In the day's crop news to stimulate peculation. The trading waa perfunctory throughout. The favorable reports of the mercantile agencies, which showed the anthracite strike to be the only cloud on the indus trial hortxon. and a showing of railroad earnings for the first week 111 June, which are larger by over ( per cent than those of the same period last year, were Influences toward conserving the firm undertone of stocks. There has been a dull and narrow mar ket for bonds this week. United States 3s end 4e declined S. the 2s registered S and the 'it coupon and bs l per cent. There haa been a proportional in crease in grassy grades, especially in cows and heifers. Beef steers have been In moderate supply the entire week, but in the limited run there has been received Borne very good steers. Grasey and unfinished beeves on the other hand sold lower from oay to day. as ihe supply of common grades In creased. ... . Practically the same conditions prevailed ln the market for she stock inasmuch a cornfed cow and heifer held up strongly the entire week and grassy grades gradu ally declined in price. Manufacturers of paper are now forced into Canada for their supply and will be able to secure same only at great expense. A home supply of pulp is needed. By the UTILIZATION OF CORN STALKS This supply will be furnished in inexhaustible quantities, as every year's corn crop will renew this raw material. NATIONAL FIBER & CELLULOSE GO. NOW BUILDING Contracts have been let with Torris Wold & Co., Chicago, for machinery for the first plants. MARKET Every paper mill in this country will use this pulp. Every city in this and foreign countries will use and deal in this feed. Manufacturers of celluloid, leather and rubber substitutes, insulating material, linoleum and pipe covering will be users of this cellulose. - INVESTORS are asked to examine our machines, patents, processes, products, and everything pertaining to the business.
