TOE OMAHA DAILY- BEE: FRIDAY, - MAY- 30, lfK)2. OMAHA BACK IN FIRST PLACE Eouile'i Team Again Ajftunet Lad ia Wettera League. Race. BROWN SHUTS OUT DES KOINES TEAM Perfect Pltchlaa Well Bapaerted Gives Reread ef Series te Ham Teasa, will Plenty ( aj- Hargla. After taking Kiiui Clty'e duct since Sat nrday Omaha is again la Brat placa and will very likely welcome, the Mtnnlnglte from the top of the ladder when they reach here tomorrow. The change doea not materially affect the Importance of that Kansas City eerlea. Brown's beautiful box work won for the homo team the second gams of the Dei Moines aeriea Tbursdsy by a score of t to 0. Nifty bate ball wss played by both teama, and the score, reinforced by the fact that none of Omaha's runs were earned, ahows to what a nobby contest the 1.000 fans who filed Into Vinton street park were treated. It was exclusively a pitchers' battle. The hits were seven and seven, very few and an even break at (hat. Then Twlrler Wtl klns mads the three mistakes that gT Omaha its tallies two errors and a wild pitch. He also gave four passes all told and hit a batter, but none of these counted for anything eventually, and the Iowaa threw a most creditable game, while the team behind blm played, faultlessly. Brown held absolute sway all -the way and the visitors lost Just because they were outpitcbed. The Industrious, quiet-faced slab artist seemed to have forgotten all about his surprising wtldnesa of Isst Sat urday, which gave Colorado Springs a vie tory. He didn't give a base yesterday, though Arlla'a marker often showed three balls against blm, and tie seven hits made off blm two were scratches and all so com pletely segregated sa to be valueless. Rlghtflelder Carter took the first atrlka on his left band when be went to bat ia the fourth and Thomas stepped In bit place. The catcher played right field the rest of the day, as Carter's hand waa badly hurt. The game waa clean and played in record time en hour and a quarter. Today the devotees are to be treated to two games. This morning Alloway will be gin his windmill work at 10:J0 and this afternoon Owen will point for the plat with that left leg at 1:45. as usual.
